When I left India in 2012 my college professor gave me just one piece of advice:
"કદી કોઈના કંધો પર પગ મૂકે તો ભૂલવાનો નહીં"
It's a Gujarati saying when translated means don't ever forget that you stand on the shoulder of giants!
Honestly at the time I couldn't comprehend what Dr Nagendra Gajjar told me. So I just nodded and left his office.
Fast forward 14 years and I feel blessed to be living this dream life! I wake up everyday and get to interview the top design teams in the world!!
My ego would like to think it's the hard work I put in or the countless sleepless night editing interviews.
But that's bullshit!
The truth is I stand on the shoulders of giants like @abnux and @ridd_design (and so many others). I didn't have to ask ChatGPT or watch YouTube videos to figure out the content strategy. I just got on calls with these giants and got my answers!
Thank you to all the designers who watch my content, all the design leaders who cleared red tape for their
teams to interview with me, guests and @RishabhxDesign. Y'all are the giants that make Sneak Peek possible 🫶

No doubt that Gandhi had flaws & no doubt that there were several questionable actions in his life. It is also perhaps our mistake to have deified him. Judging actions of the past from today’s vantage point is bound to throw up even more flaws.
Excellent and creative work done by young Bharat Digital Fellows Shanu, Veda and Ayush in @rdprgok this summer working on technology for local governance. Many thanks also to @NisarHogaya and @Rukmini.
@abnux But I get that you meant abundance in terms of what it does to a person, creating a sense of comfort and that we should try to be away from it, which makes sense.
@abnux I thought you were referring to abundance in the context of resources, so I was wondering, if material abundance is a myth, then the popular idea of a ‘positive-sum game’ also doesn't hold.

@10kdesigners
I've been getting DMs from designers asking how I came up with the Sneak Peek idea. So here's behind the scenes story:
In July 2023, I was struggling to grow my podcast Design MBA. I thought pivoting the podcast to show how top designers use Figma would be a good idea. So I pitched @henrymodis to let me record how he uses Figma to design for @perplexity_ai. Henry agreed but I wasn't sure if designers would like this new idea.
At the same time, @abnux asked me to host live interviews for @10kdesigners during which I would interview designers from top companies in India on how they use Figma to design world class products. After 6 months of running these interviews behind closed doors, I had conviction that this idea could be a big hit in the design community if made public.
In Jan 2024, I finally devised a name for this idea: "Inside Figma." I pitched it to @ridd_design, who immediately replied, "Nothing like this exists out there. You should definitely pursue it". For the next 4 months, I went through so many rejections as most designers weren't comfortable showing their Figma publicly due to NDAs. But I managed to convince seven designers.
I hired an amazing generalist @RishabhxDesign to helped me edit the interviews. Right before launch, I got on a call with Abhinav to get feedback, and he said, "This looks good, but Inside Figma is not a f**king brand. Ditch it! Go with Sneak Peek instead".
On May 29, 2024, I launched Sneak Peek season 1, and it went viral. My email list and social media following blew up. I had hit content market fit!
For season 2, I wanted to interview big name companies. @nlevin saw the potential and connected me with designers at @figma. @tabletennisguru moved mountains to get approval from Slack. After that, I name dropped Slack, Figma to get other companies to participate. Top design recruiter @gdfovercs helped out by connecting me with designers at Hex and Tome.
I spent weekends and nights for the next 4 months editing the interviews and creating clips. Managing this insane workload alongside my day job became too much. I wanted to quit. But I have a problem of sticking with endeavors for way too long. Like the time I wasted one year of my life learning Salsa dancing despite being a horrible dancer.
So I persisted and launched Sneak Peek season 2 on Nov 8, 2024. I never imagined in my wildest dreams that Sneak Peek would go on to help 27,000+ designers worldwide, including design teams at Microsoft and Amazon!
No one knows that I worked on enterprise dashboards for Fortune 500 companies because all my design work is behind NDAs.
But Sneak Peek is my public facing work that I can point someone to and proudly say, "I felt most alive as a designer when creating this."
