IP3/Ca2+ signals in a set of neurons drive a transcriptional feedback loop through Set2 mediated H3K36 methylation. This signaling pathway establishes a brain-wide transcriptional profile that allows Drosophila larvae to undergo pupariation under protein deprivation.
