“Virtue is in the balance between extremes.
Between the insecure and the egomaniac: confidence.
Between the uptight and the clown: grace.
Between the coward and the daredevil: courage.
Between selfishness and sacrifice: generosity.”
— Derek Sivers
The companies that lose to AI won't be the ones that picked the wrong tool. They'll be the ones that never tested.
The landscape shifts every month. The tool that gives you an edge next quarter might not exist yet. Standing still feels safe, but it isn't.
So I stopped making people justify experimentation and started funding it by default. Every direct report at @outwaysocks gets $1,000 a month to test. No questions asked.
They can sign up for any new AI program and test it. No approval. No business case. No pressure to keep using it if it doesn't work.
That last part is the unlock. Most people stay stuck on a tool because they feel they have to justify trying it. Remove the obligation and you remove the friction.
The budget has no expectation of return. It exists so we don't stand still while everything moves.
There is no “best” choice. Most of the value comes from commitment after the choice, not optimization before it.
We spend years searching for the perfect career, city, business, relationship, or opportunity.
But the search itself is often the trap.
The best choice is rarely obvious in advance. It becomes the best choice through commitment, effort, and time.
Most people suffer not from making the wrong decision, but from refusing to fully commit to any decision.
Every open door divides attention. Every backup plan dilutes conviction.
Commitment concentrates energy.
Stop looking for certainty. Choose thoughtfully, then commit deeply enough to make the choice right.

“The secret of life is to have a task, something you devote your entire life to, something you bring everything to, every minute of every day for the rest of your life. And the most important thing is, it must be something you cannot possibly do.”
— Henry Moore

in an economic recession.
Russia IS NOT even in a recession right now.
Ukraine is being bombed and its not in a recession.
Afghanistan is NOT in a recession.
If you've raised money and things aren't going well, communicate.
The best founders keep their shareholders in the know.
The worst founders go dark and ghost.
Losing investor money sucks, but it's part of the game.
Losing your reputation is far worse.
When you’re testing a business strategy, there’s no such thing as failure.
You either hit your goal, or you figure out what doesn’t work and narrow the field for the next test.
Imagine your goal is to hit one specific target. But it’s hidden among dozens of identical targets. Every shot eliminates a target. Every shot reduces the field.
With enough shots, the right target becomes obvious.
Therefore the only failure is inaction. Or running the test and not learning from it.
So keep shooting.
"Hardship does not come to bury a man. It comes to measure him." - Epictetus
The world is filled with those who are buried.
The only way forward is through...
Be proudly measured by your Grit.
Bold actions, pushing forward, never stopping.
“Reality does not abide by your feelings. Knowledge is either true or false, irrespective of your level of offense. Well-adjusted individuals in free and dignified societies navigate through the world armed with an accurate understanding of reality (and not wishful Unicornia), propelled by the power of the motto that ‘knowledge is power.’ Be empathetic to the truth.”
— @GadSaad
“He [man] is free to evade reality, he is free to unfocus his mind and stumble blindly down any road he pleases, but not free to avoid the abyss he refuses to see. Knowledge, for any conscious organism is the means of survival… Man is free to choose not to be conscious, but not free to escape the penalty of unconsciousness: destruction.”
- Ayn Rand
"The West suffers from this collective malady, namely it has become a definitional "truth" that this civilization has achieved greatness if a fraudulent manner (e.g., colonialism and slavery), which can only be remedied via suicidal empathy."
- Gad Saad (@GadSaad)
