@StephenIThomson I suggest just asking for speed & reliability upgrades if its currently unusable. I think they usually just expand the VPN servers with more nodes to support more bandwidth throughput, simultaneous connections etc.
@StephenIThomson VPN here, it works well. They did upgrade it both in the 2010s after a storm closure, and again in early 2020 as the usage went up further. Each upgrade helped improve it so now its a lot better than say the early 2010s.
@MattPattClimate @sosprey That MetDesk/wxcharts.com figure is an anomaly plot though, right? (their caption seems misleading). So a +38.9C anomaly added to a 1979-2010 climatology would probably agree with the Earthnullschool temps you link to...

Our new paper (Me, Jochen Broecker, Alexey Karpechko, @SimonLeeWx, @michaelsigmond, @IslaSimpson4) out in December in @theAGU Journal of Geophysical Research looks to understand the fundamental building blocks of predictive skill coming from the stratosphere.
Today is MJO day at #AGU21! Talks (A51G, A52G) this morning and posters (A55U) this afternoon.
I'll be on chat for my poster (A55U-1713) 9:15-9:45am, 11am-2pm, and 5-6pm CST on chat and certain times within that on video link. Come by and say hi!
