@TyFrench8 I agree! Music is now very accessible in comparison to when CanCon was first enforced. There are artists outside of Canada who produce better music that will not get the chance to be heard. I do not think that CanCon is a fair distribution of music. #MUS2011W21
@dshortall11 I agree! Music is now very accessible so it is not necessary to broadcast a strict amount of Canadian music. Other artists outside of Canada deserve the chance to be heard if they are more talented. #MUS2011W21
Although I respect the idea of CanCon, I do not think it is necessary anymore. I feel as though music is now globalized. Some Canadian artists do not deserve to be broadcasted in comparison to artists in the USA as their music may not be of the same caliber. #MUS2011W21
@JoshuaHynes15 I agree! I believe that you can't get the same experience through listening to a record by yourself in comparison to a live concert. I think people should never give up the opportunity to listen to a band live. #MUS2011W21
@eahiscock I really like your point about the sense of community. During live performances, everyone is brought together through the true emotions that the artist emits at the time. I think you can never have the same experience through listening to a record. #MUS2011W21
#MUS2011W21 I do not fully agree with Wald's statement. Music records may be more accessible, but that does not mean that present-day fans would not enjoy watching live music of cover bands. Many people go out for coffee or drinks to listen to live music for personal enjoyment.
@EmmaRandell5#MUS2011W21 I agree! I think the middle-class artists were in the wrong of stealing music but it can not be dismissed as it represents the history of popular music. Artists still cover songs today but now they give credit to the original artist, which is the right way to cover.
@JoshuaHynes15#MUS2011W21 Nice point! I also agree that the music should not be dismissed. Although, I do not agree with the way it was done to appeal to just a white audience.
#MUS2011W21 The authors consider this music "schlock" as many white artists covered the music from black artists to appeal to a different audience. I think that it should not be dismissed as people still cover music today, although the original artist should be credited.
#MUS2011W21 I believe that Ray Charles uses his breaking voice to show his true passion and expression of his feelings. It has such as distinctive sound that shows his raw emotions.
@brookesquiress I agree! I did the same thing when I was younger, now I never listen to the radio since my phone has all of my favourite music. #MUS2011W21
#MUS2011W21 From listening to music on my portable CD player as a kid to now with a cellphone, music has become more accessible. It helped shaped my identity by expanding my interests into various genres of music.
