I thought the marker was the task.

It wasn't.

The drawer was the problem first.
In this @axisrobotics task, I had to:
🧸 put the toy figurine on the wooden tray
🗄️ pull both drawers fully out
🖊️ place the marker inside the upper drawer

That middle step looks almost boring.

But remove it and the final action becomes impossible.

The marker has a destination.
The destination exists.
But it isn't accessible yet.

And I think that's a really interesting Physical AI problem.

A lot of manipulation isn't simply:
see target → move object → done

Sometimes the world has to change before the desired action is even available.
CLOSED DRAWER
↓
target space exists, but can't be used
↓
PULL
↓
geometry changes
↓
target becomes accessible
↓
PLACE MARKER

Humans barely think about this.
Want a mug from a cabinet? Open the door.

Put laundry away? Pull the drawer.
Load a dishwasher? Open it first.

The useful action depends on the current state of the environment.

That's what made this little Axis task click for me.
I'm not only moving an object toward a fixed destination.

I'm interacting with an articulated object whose state changes what can be done next.

And Axis can capture these interactions as trajectories, then validate and process the resulting data as part of its Physical AI data pipeline.

Maybe one of the hardest things about robots living in our world isn't teaching them where things belong.
It's teaching them that sometimes:

before you can reach the goal, you have to make the goal reachable.
