There are so many heartbreaking stories to be reread and remembered on this anniversary of Oct 7th. Not sure there is much one can add to find or create meaning. Except one thing, every time.
Am Yisroel Chai!
@markpinc Zionism is in the same category as abolitionism and suffragism - slavery was abolished, women got a right to vote, Israel was created. Why does the world want to keep talking about this? Rhetorical question tbc
after 13 emails with @eightsleep support over a week, which included a paid receipt, I got a clearly AI-generated note that they are "not able to locate the payment in our system". Two thoughts: a) AI customer support still has a long way to go and b) time to switch from @SienaAI to @flip_cx
HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM:
This is a well written and thought out article written by a 26 yr old college student by the name of Alyssa Ahlgren, who's in grad school for her MBA.
What a GREAT perspecitve...
My Generation Is Blind to the Prosperity Around Us!
I'm sitting in a small coffee shop near Nokomis (Florida) trying to think of what to write about. I scroll through my newsfeed on my phone looking at the latest headlines of presidential candidates calling for policies to "fix" the so-called injustices of capitalism. I put my phone down and continue to look around.
I see people talking freely, working on their MacBook's, ordering food they get in an instant, seeing cars go by outside, and it dawned on me. We live in the most privileged time in the most prosperous nation and we've become completely blind to it.
Vehicles, food, technology, freedom to associate with whom we choose. These things are so ingrained in our American way of life we don't give them a second thought.
We are so well off here in the United States that our poverty line begins 31 times above the global average. Thirty One Times!!!
Virtually no one in the United States is considered poor by global standards. Yet, in a time where we can order a product off Amazon with one click and have it at our doorstep the next day, we are unappreciative, unsatisfied, and ungrateful. ??
Our unappreciation is evident as the popularity of socialist policies among my generation continues to grow.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently said to Newsweek talking about the millennial generation, "An entire generation, which is now becoming one of the largest electorates in America, came of age and never saw American prosperity."
Never saw American prosperity! Let that sink in.
When I first read that statement, I thought to myself, that was quite literally the most entitled and factually illiterate thing I've ever heard in my 26 years on this earth.
Many young people agree with her, which is entirely misguided.
My generation is being indoctrinated by a mainstream narrative to actually believe we have never seen prosperity. I know this first hand, I went to college, let's just say I didn't have the popular opinion, but I digress.
Why then, with all of the overwhelming evidence around us, evidence that I can even see sitting at a coffee shop, do we not view this as prosperity? We have people who are dying to get into our country.
People around the world destitute and truly impoverished. Yet, we have a young generation convinced they've never seen prosperity, and as a result, we elect some politicians who are dead set on taking steps towards abolishing capitalism.
Why? The answer is this,?? my generation has only seen prosperity. We have no contrast. We didn't live in the great depression, or live through two world wars, the Korean War, The Vietnam War or we didn't see the rise and fall of socialism and communism.
We don't know what it's like to live without the internet, without cars, without smartphones. We don't have a lack of prosperity problem. We have an entitlement problem, an ungratefulness problem, and it's spreading like a plague."
One of the greatest matches ever and very few got to see it live. This needs to be fixed now. It is unfair to the players, the fans, the sponsors, and the sport.
@lsanger@RichEllefritz@Grokipedia Great idea and totally supportive. You may want to think about incorporating links to Grokopedia - those are not direct corrections of Wikipedia, but generally much more fact based and accurate descriptions.

Just this century. Over 70,000 people dead. Only one called a genocide. Argument over.
THE NEW AI INFRASTRUCTURE STACK
Piper Sandler mapped the new AI infrastructure stack across 8 layers from the power grid all the way to the agent as AI scaling creates bottlenecks across power, cooling, networking, storage, cloud & inference:
Layer 1 | Power, Grid & Real Estate
• $NEE building renewable power backbone hyperscalers need to scale AI
• $CEG monetizing 24/7 nuclear power AI data centers increasingly require
• $TLN building behind the meter nuclear power model for AI campuses
• $IREN turning scarce power & interconnects into hyperscale AI capacity
• $DLR owning physical real estate underneath global AI infrastructure
• $EQIX owning interconnection layer where AI networks & clouds meet
Layer 2 | Physical Datacenter, Shell & Cooling
• $VRT building 800V DC powertrain needed for next jump in AI rack density
• $SMCI assembling liquid cooled rack systems that turn GPUs into usable compute
Layer 3 | Silicon & Hardware
• $NVDA building compute platform underneath AI economy
• $AMD building second full stack accelerator platform at hyperscale
• $AVGO designing custom AI silicon behind Google TPUs & Meta MTIA as hyperscalers move deeper into proprietary compute
• $GOOGL turning TPUs from an internal advantage into a hardware business sold directly into customer data centers
• $INTC turning 14A into a real external foundry business with $TSLA as an anchor customer and its largest reported foundry deal yet
• $ARM moving into full server CPUs & capturing the full value of the chip instead of dollars per core
Layer 4 | Scale Up & Scale Out Networking
• $ANET building Ethernet backbone connecting hyperscale AI clusters
• $CSCO extending enterprise networking into AI data center fabric
• $CLS manufacturing physical networking hardware connecting AI clusters
Layer 5 | High Performance Storage
• $PSTG using DirectFlash to reclaim power & rack space for AI infrastructure
• $DELL bundling servers & storage into an integrated enterprise AI stack
• $NTAP connecting enterprise data estates to cloud AI workloads
• $HPE bringing enterprise storage into an infrastructure as a service model
Layer 6 | Orchestration & Workloads
• $IBM turning Red Hat OpenShift into enterprise control plane for private & hybrid AI deployments
• $NTNX bringing AI infrastructure stack into private & on prem environments
Layer 7 | GPUaaS & Cloud
• $CRWV proving GPU residual value with fully priced A100 capacity contracted through 2029
• $NBIS building an AI cloud around 5GW of contracted power with customers prepaying 50% of capex
• $DOCN bringing AI compute & inference below hyperscale cloud layer
• $MSFT turning Azure into one of largest distribution layers for AI compute
• $AKAM pushing AI inference closer to where users consume it
• $AMZN monetizing AI through hyperscale cloud infrastructure & its own silicon
• $ORCL building AI cloud capacity against a heavily concentrated backlog of large customer commitments
Layer 8 | Model Execution, Tokens & Agents
• $NET becoming distribution layer between AI agents and the internet as non human traffic crosses more than 50% of its network
• $FSLY moving inference closer to the end user through edge compute
Kimi K3 license. It's inspired by MIT but distinctly non-commercial, where any company making over $20M/yr must get a specific commercial deal (and display Kimi K3 if over 100M users or $20M/mo revenue)
@SaidHaschemi That’s $6 million to the fund, not personally to Ben. $6M might still not make much of a difference to him or any successful VC but that’s not what was at stake
First visit to Seven Hills @SevenHillsSF in San Francisco, thanks to a friend who calls it his favorite Italian restaurant in the city. After one dinner, it’s easy to see why. The cooking is thoughtful, layered and confident, with every dish feeling carefully composed.
I brought two bottles from the cellar.
André Clouet Un Jour de 1911 is one of Champagne’s great insider bottles. Jean-François Clouet created it as a tribute to a cache of family bottles from the legendary 1911 vintage that inspired the cuvée. It is 100% Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Bouzy, built from an old base vintage blended with an older perpetual reserve, then aged 10–12½ years on its lees before release—an extraordinary amount of time for a multi-vintage Champagne.
The result is a Champagne with real gravitas: layered, vinous and wonderfully complete. It paired effortlessly with the duck liver pâté and Albion strawberry, was equally at home with the salmon belly, and kept finding new dimensions alongside the seafood pastas.
The 2010 Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino was every bit as impressive. A multiple 100-point wine that has long been regarded as one of the defining Brunellos of the legendary 2010 vintage, it is just entering a magnificent drinking window. Sixteen years on, it remains remarkably youthful, offering the perfume that makes great Brunello so compelling—dark cherry, dried roses, orange peel, tobacco and savory herbs—wrapped around beautifully refined tannins. The wine still has real grip and decades of life ahead, yet it showed with remarkable harmony.
It paired beautifully with the pasta dishes, including the squid ink shrimp pasta, where the wine’s richness, vibrant fruit and structure complemented the gentle heat without overwhelming the seafood.
A memorable evening, made even more satisfying by opening two bottles that had quietly waited in my cellar for the right setting, the right food and the right company.
Super interesting, long format discussion of Machiavelli, his intentions, the inquisition, copyright, and western thought. Who knew he was such a patriot of Florence? https://t.co/7Nmf2lVXWw
Remember last week when we discovered Spain had a colony in Africa? Yeah me too, that was fun. Turns out they have 7. The UK has 14, France has 13, the Netherlands has 6, and Denmark has two including Greenland. Yet a tiny nation of Jews living in their ancestral homeland with absolutely zero overseas holdings, let alone in Africa, are the colonizers? Mom was right, the biggest hypocrites really do scream the loudest.
