@michellehuang42 I'm in this position right now, laid off a month ago and chose to take a break/sabbatical to pursue creative ventures and learning interests. I'm starting to suffer from context switching burnout. on hindsight...how would you recommend downselecting from interests?
@michellehuang42 Really appreciate you sharing this. I remember conceiving something like this back in 2019 and called in text messages to my younger self, which also applied ML/NLP in a similar way. It’s resonating so hard to see you realize this and how GPT-3 has now made it possible 🥹💕✨
@michellehuang42 Tactical question as I’m new and learning how this works — how did you feed the model analog entries? and image input of the text?
I also have journals dating back to 2010 I’ve been wanting to experiment with ML/NLP, and around helping me develop better emotional intelligence
Following your passion is a luxury. Following your values is a necessity.
Passion is a fickle magnet: it pulls you toward your current interests. Values are a steady compass: they point you toward a future purpose.
Passion brings immediate joy. Values provide lasting meaning.
I am getting many emails asking what kind of apps I think are interesting in AI. ten-minute brainstorm of free startup ideas — some aren't good businesses, some have been tried, but not nearly enough of these have been tried when capabilities are improving so rapidly. please add!
Every year I read a lot of grad school applications from accomplished people that don't give me the info I'm looking for. It feels like a major hidden curriculum thing. So here's (my opinion on) how to write a great Statement of Purpose/Research for a PhD program. 🧵 1/
One of the biggest lies we’re taught as designers is that you have to be able vocalize every single decision you make with data or research.
Nah.
Add that gradient because you think it looks cool. Use that typeface bc you enjoy it.
That’s all the excuse you need.

I think "know your audience" can be dangerous advice for writers.
Write stuff you yourself find interesting and entertaining.
Writing for yourself is fun, and it shows. Writing for others is work, and it shows.
Hi! Did you know I teach at UCLA? We have an amazing small department called Design Media Arts. We rarely have openings for new faculty and we have one now. Please help spread the word! Professor of Media Arts, Media Design and Visual Communication: https://t.co/fqcTdX66Vp
