Frontline doctors have spoken unequivocally.
Strikes are not inevitable. I will make myself available at any time to negotiate a credible deal - right up until 0659 on Wednesday.
Let’s turn down the Government rhetoric, get negotiating and get to a deal to settle this dispute.
Stunning turnout from @BMANorthernRDC resident doctors (despite the rain!) at the RVI in Newcastle! ✊🧡
Clear message from our members to government - solve the jobs crisis and stop eroding our pay.

@Doyvla@BMAResidents@_VivekTrivedi@wesstreeting Brocha Goode says ‘this has always been about retaining doctors in the NHS’.
Without fair pay and decent career prospects, he fears more doctors will leave.
'I stand with my former colleagues'
Author and comedian Adam Kay, who qualified as a doctor, told #BBCBreakfast he supports resident doctors who have voted in favour of strike action, in the latest chapter in a long-running pay dispute

This motion defending the rights of trans and intersex people and condemning the Supreme Court's ruling on the definition of a woman was passed at Saturday's @BMAResidents Conference - thank you to these residents. The EHRC guidance arising from this ruling is deeply problematic.
🚨We’ve heard that doctors affected by the MRCP error are being told they will not be able to progress their HST applications.
Urgent advice: do not withdraw any application & continue applying if you are affected. If you are prevented from applying keep emails and screenshots.
@cml_smith@DrNeenaJha I can imagine! There’s a 3mo one too (£32.05) for future ref for shorter term issues
It’s so frustrating as I was told at uni a fair bit of the cost is just spent administering eligibility etc. and it can easily deter people from getting the meds they need

Doesn’t solve the problem but I try to make sure my patients know about the prepayment certificate as it’s not well advertised - £114.50/yr (direct debit option=over 10 months) so saves money as soon as they have one regular prescription (12x£9.90=£118.80)

@cml_smith@DrNeenaJha Depending on how many of those are regular for you, it might be worth looking into getting a prepayment certificate - it costs 114.50 for the year, so you save money even with one regular prescription now (12x £9.90* = £118.80)
*current prescription charge
UK public, look at how many of you agree with their proposals, as well as how many doctors. Despite overwhelming disagreement, the GMC proceeds anyway. Because ultimately, they don't seem to care. It's a terrible legacy to leave.
Doctors are joining locally employed roles without plans for progression out of necessity, lest they join the ranks of under- and un-employed doctors.
The apparent ignorance of this from the GMC is beyond galling.

🚨BMA win in court!🚨
RCGP’s policy on exam attempts is *unlawful and unfair to disabled trainees* and is quashed.
Our fight must now ensure the new policy allows reasonable adjustments and additional exam attempts for doctors with a late diagnosis

I always like these messages after writing about the two-child benefit limit, as if I’ve personally got 23 children I’m secretly trying to make the taxpayer feed. My personal “lifestyle choice” is: if you see children going hungry because of a policy, campaign to end the policy.
