This is very insightful and most certainly true—certainly as my life continues to unfold. It also appears true at all stages of life. Great share @thogge
many big decisions (career, company, life) appear to come down to this tradeoff:
Am I willing to trade the certainty of a good outcome for the possibility of a great outcome?
Utah benefited from Whit's hyper-competiveness for 30 years. He did more with less nearly every year and exceeded expectations constantly. What did Harland and the Admin's think was going to happen when he wanted to coach more? Turn that off like a switch? What drove him to greatness with Utah is what's driving him now. Do you really feel that you get decades of fire and competitiveness then ask him to "go easy" so he can just go 7-5? That's not in his DNA, obviously.
Want a better 2026? 4 Easy steps that cost you nothing. 1. Prioritize sleep. 2. Exercise Daily. 3. Mediterranean Diet. 4. Vision Board. You'll thank yourself this time next year. Return and Report.
@IanCarrollShow Ian! Love this effort, it's one of the best tools yet to help us change things. I help companies grow and scale. Normally charge a lot for it. Happy to work on this gratis. DM is open.
Every professional relationship has 3 ingredients:
- Ability: do they think you're actually good?
- Trust: do they think you would ever hurt them?
- Appeal: do they find you enjoyable to be around?
Honestly assess these areas and you'll understand any relationship clearly.
Ask yourself:
Am I a great experience? Am I trying to be a great experience?
All of your opportunities, future earning potential, promotability, job offers, sales, and more are all tied up in the answers to these questions.
@bryan_johnson So excited for this protocol and results. From similar personal experience. I would not be surprised if the results shock all concerned. @bryan_johnson, you'll never be the same.
I have been doing this for a year+. It's transformative. Please Try it. You and everyone around you will be glad you did. The protocol works. Thank you Bryan.
Bryan Johnson’s Best Health Hack Will Help You Sleep Better and Live Longer
“The single best thing I've learned out of everything I've ever done is (lowering) your resting heart rate before sleep is the best thing you can do for your health. Hands down.”
“Let's say it's 60 beats per minute. Your goal over the next month is to lower your heart rate by 10% or so. So if you're 60, be down at 54.”
“Here's how you're going to do it.”
1) No food for 4 hours before bed
2) No screens for 1 hour before bed
3) Amber and red lights in your house, no blues
4) No caffeine after 12pm
“The reason why your heart rate is so important is the lower your heart rate is, the better your sleep, the better your sleep, the better your willpower.”
“Did you know, if you don't sleep your prefrontal cortex goes offline and you lose your willpower?”
“So when you're trying to not eat the cookie, you're powerless. You can't do it. It's gone.”
“I promise you, this is the single best thing you can do for your health.”

If it's budget season and you're not investing in maximizing your executive team's performance—your most expensive, high-leverage people—what are you "bleep" are you investing in?
@AlexForbesOps Take a two-month hiatus from all social media, including here. Create new patterns and focus to fully embrace life's most wonderful gift.
PE seeks growth and results, which they paid for. Many companies fail post-acquisition due to poor execution by a distracted, freshly re-org'd exec team. If they execute, goals are met, and he and others can fulfill their promise. ( This is why I coach). I hope they succeed!! What a stellar product, bringing new tech and energy to the greatest game.
LAB Putters has been sold to Private Equity.
Of course the founder with the cliche PE sellout statement: “New owners are incredible and I remain a shareholder”.
I don’t blame him, but will they get better under PE? I doubt it. I predict a major decline in the product over time. Happens almost every time.
Shafts don't care about swing speed. The most important factor is not how fast you swing, but when that speed is applied.
Our three initial profiles were developed based on the three most common golf swing types we’ve identified on GEARS. #gearssports
