Let’s break the chain. Stop saying NATURAL disasters—and others will follow. 💡
There’s no such thing as a natural disaster! ❌ A hurricane, earthquake, or flood is a natural HAZARD – but DISASTERS only happen when people are unprotected, exposed, vulnerable.

VIDEO | During a guided tour of NCDC and a detailed overview of the use of AI technology in disease surveillance, NCDC Director Dr. Ranjan Das said, "We are currently working on moving from detective to predictive modelling. As discussed earlier, as my head of the Department of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme and IHIP have explained, there are two aspects to this. While we are progressing from detection to prevention and now to prediction, there are also pitfalls. Currently, no predictive model anywhere in the world is 100% foolproof. We do not yet have a mechanism to make pinpoint predictions with complete certainty. We are working on these challenges in collaboration with various ministries and divisions, particularly scientific and technical agencies of the Government of India, including ISRO, the Department of Science and Technology, the Indian Council of Medical Research, and CSIR. Together, we are advancing predictive modelling, but as I mentioned, caution is necessary due to potential pitfalls."
