Today we report in @ChemRxiv a biocatalytic strategy for enantioselective amination of 3° C–H bonds, providing chiral α-tertiary primary amines with up to >99% e.e., all in challenging intermolecular and notorious Me–Et substituted settings, w/o DGs https://t.co/01wkDRrnq9
New Year, New Paper🚀Today in @J_A_C_S, we report a biocatalytic platform that employs a C–C bond disconnection strategy to broaden Nature's lactone synthesis approaches, which rely solely on a C–O bond disconnection. https://t.co/YNvLi1RWIR
Check out this cool work from our lab @francesarnold, and learn how to use engineered enzymes to break stubborn carbon-silicon bonds. #enzymes and #DirectedEvolution never cease to amaze!
We are thrilled to present a new #enzyme to the world, the first shown to break the man-made carbon-silicon bonds in #siloxanes, which are persistent in the environment.

In @NatureSynthesis today, we report an engineered enzyme enabling #Stereoconvergent alkylation of alkene mixtures, which diverges from typical #stereospecific biotransformations, adding a fresh dimension to biocatalytic alkene functionalization. https://t.co/a1IjrvJ7dn

After 20+ rounds of #directedevolution, we obtained engineered enzymes that catalyze carbene insertions to make 5-, 6-, 7-, 8-membered, fused-, spiro-, and bridged-lactones, even unprotected lactam and cyclic ketone from simple SMs with up to 5600 total turnovers and >99% ee.

Exciting work from @runzemao...#enzymes can work with selectivity and efficiency that other catalysts just can't reach. And this is not even a natural reaction! #biocatalysis#directedevolution
Context: Despite advancements in asymmetric functionalization toward 2° C–H bonds, introducing chirality to racemic 3° carbon centers remains elusive. Once again, in intermolecular settings and without the assistance of DGs. To better comprehend this challenge, see below
