We have a paper coming out in Nucleic Acids Research https://t.co/NBdVRjX01s, introducing a new algorithm designed to detect homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) in low tumor purity samples, such as liquid biopsies. More info in the thread. @NAR_Open @broadinstitute
5. However, there are limitations: Sequencing depth also impacts DirectHRD performance, as detecting tumor fraction down to 1% would require cfDNA sequencing at 50× coverage. We expect that higher sensitivity could be achieved with deeper WGS-the cost of which is plummeting.
Quick update. We have a pretty exciting lineup of topics/speakers in and around benchmarking that will be presented in Ascona at the end of the month:

Fantastic work from UNC BCB grad @NilAygun8 on cell type specific regulatory paths in neurons and progenitors. Congrats Nil! Off to do great science at postdoc at DFCI

The Atlanta shooter blamed a specific race of people for his problems, and then murdered them because of it. If that’s not racism, then the word has no meaning.
Jill and I are keeping everyone impacted by the shootings in Atlanta in our prayers. We don’t yet know the motive, but what we do know is that the Asian-American community is feeling enormous pain tonight. The recent attacks against the community are un-American. They must stop.

This is horrifying for any Asians living in US, especially the violence came from teenagers. Racial attack towards Japanese Americans, Chinese Americans are not rare in the history of country. It’s time to raise everyone’s awareness of racial discrimination against Asians.
I am disgusted, disappointed especially in the current crisis. We must stand together to reshape our society. Hate has no place in our community. #RacismMustStop
We are working with the @NYPD68Pct and the @NYPDHateCrimes unit to identify those responsible for these hateful flyers.
