Today was probably the first time I genuinely got irritated at work.

A current account customer came to collect an account statement.
As per our bank's procedure, we require a simple written request/application before issuing the statement. I politely asked her to submit one.
Her response was, "Why do I need an application? I'm standing right here. The previous Branch Manager used to give it without any application."
The attitude was completely unnecessary. Then came the usual threat: "I'll close my account and file a complaint against you."
I calmly replied, "You're free to do both." 😄
The biggest problem is that once customers get used to exceptions, they start treating them as their right. The moment someone follows the rules, they become the villain.
As for complaints or transfers, I'm not afraid of either. If I get transferred, so be it. I'll follow the rules wherever I'm posted. Whatever happens, happens.

Strange times indeed !!

UFBU has called for demonstrations for 5-Day Banking, but where are the signatures of BMS-affiliated unions NOBO and NOBW ?

Has the much-talked-about unity of UFBU started cracking ?

If years of demonstrations have produced only assurances and delays, perhaps this is the right time for BMS to deal directly with the DFS and pursue a different strategy.

If @BMSkendra gets majority mark in terms of membership then #5DaysBanking will be a reality soon.

Dear Bank Officers,

*BOI Officers Organisation (BOIOO)* strongly condemns the recent decision of the so-called majority unions under the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) to sideline organizations that have sincerely worked for the long-pending demand of Five-Day Banking.

The communication issued by UFBU itself acknowledges that NOBW and NOBO, through *Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS),* independently pursued the demand for Five-Day Banking with the Government of India. Instead of appreciating these constructive efforts made in the larger interest of bank officers, they have chosen the path of exclusion.

*We ask every bank officer:*

Is working tirelessly for the implementation of Five-Day Banking a crime?

*Five-Day Banking* is not the agenda of any particular union. It is a legitimate and long-standing aspiration of every bank officer in the country. Any sincere initiative taken to achieve this objective should be welcomed, not punished.

Trade unionism is built on democracy, dialogue, and the welfare of officers—not on monopoly, intolerance, or the suppression of alternative voices. No organization has the moral right to discourage or penalize genuine efforts made for officers' welfare simply because they originate from another union.

BOIOO appeals to all bank officers to think independently, reject divisive and authoritarian practices, and support organizations that work with transparency, integrity, national interest, and an unwavering commitment to officers' welfare.

*Support BOIOO. Support NOBO. Support the movement for Five-Day Banking.*

Together, let us build a stronger, democratic, and officer-centric trade union movement.

आज 22430 PTK–Delhi Express में अमृतसर से नई दिल्ली की यात्रा के दौरान ₹40 की Maaza ₹50 में और ₹14 MRP का नकली/लोकल पानी ₹20 में बेचा जा रहा था। मैंने इसका वीडियो बनाकर शिकायत की तो वेंडर भागकर अपने मैनेजर के पास गया। इसके बाद जालंधर से पहले हटाया जा चुका पूर्व मैनेजर ट्रेन में चढ़ा (मेरी जानकारी के अनुसार बिना टिकट) और कुछ लोगों के साथ मिलकर लगातार मेरा पीछा करने लगा।
उसने मेरे ऊपर झूठे आरोप लगाकर यात्रियों को भड़काया कि मैंने उसकी पत्नी का नंबर फेसबुक से निकालकर गाली दी है। इसके बाद लुधियाना में मुझे जबरन ट्रेन से उतारने और हमला करने की कोशिश की गई, जबकि मेरा टिकट नई दिल्ली तक था।
अगर उस समय यात्रियों ने बीच-बचाव करके मुझे नहीं बचाया होता, तो मेरे साथ गंभीर या जानलेवा घटना हो सकती थी। अपनी सुरक्षा के लिए मुझे सरहिंद स्टेशन पर यात्रा बीच में छोड़नी पड़ी, वहां से बस द्वारा अंबाला और फिर दूसरी ट्रेन से नई दिल्ली पहुँचा।
मैं इस पूरे मामले की CCTV, ट्रेन स्टाफ की जानकारी और उपलब्ध वीडियो के आधार पर निष्पक्ष जांच तथा संबंधित वेंडर, पूर्व मैनेजर और शामिल सभी लोगों पर सख्त कार्रवाई की मांग करता हूँ। मुझे अब भी अपनी सुरक्षा को लेकर गंभीर खतरा है।

Walk into any pharmacy and ask for a discount. You’ll often get 15–20% without any union membership.

Yet this is being showcased as a ‘historic achievement’ by leaders who claim they negotiate for lakhs of bank employees.

If ordinary retail discounts are presented as bargaining success, should employees really trust the same leadership to negotiate wages, pensions, 5-day banking and service conditions?

Bank employees deserve performance, not publicity.

Every bank should have the courage to do this.

If a customer’s expectations can never be met despite repeated efforts, politely asking them to close the account is far better than wasting hundreds of staff hours in endless disputes.

Respect employees’ time as much as customer satisfaction. Kudos to HDFC Bank staff for taking a practical call. 👏

Time for PSBs to learn that not every customer relationship must continue indefinitely when it has become unworkable.
