$IBM CEO says the $1B investment into his company’s quantum division by the US government is a strategic catalyst.

The goal is to create an ecosystem to accelerate R&D and scale domestic QPU production.

Given the technology potential, the investment is modest at best, but there’s geopolitical urgency.

According to official figures, China had invested $15B in quantum by March 2026 and has much more to invest into the industry.

Industry consensus expects fully fault-tolerant quantum computers in 2028.

When the US government is so openly supporting an industry as a national security priority, it’s hard not to be bullish.
