For some orgs code freeze is 100% the best option, and even if they have a great change management system in place, there’s no good reason to risk a change breaking prod during the best week of sales of the year
have been in e-commerce for 8 years, starting on the operational side and now building a SaaS product. It blows my mind that companies still implement code freezes. I assumed the industry had advanced further, yet most of our integration partners still notify us that they are enforcing freezes.
What's even funnier is that some companies in Sweden are fine with, or at least expecting, the fact that their websites can't handle the traffic and will go down.
@HakanaiVR@ChShersh@wolffofrivia some companies name them Architects but these roles are only needed in big companies because the scope doesn’t exist in startups. If you work in a big company and you don’t see the value of a Staff eng then you are going to be a bitter Senior forever
@ChShersh@wolffofrivia it’s almost as if these two seniors are performing two different jobs and maybe to have a way to distinguish them we call the second one “Senior+”
@wongmjane@Uber@Uber_Support i’m ex-Uber and 3 friends had the same issue during my time there. They asked me for help after hours of contacting help themselves, I reported this internally and they weren’t able to help even then.
good luck!
@dollarsanddata so it’s risky to assume that the future tax brackets will stay the same but your calculations assume that long term capital gains will stay the same?
i agree that maxing out a 401k is not for everyone but is good advice for most people
