@London_W4 I live in your neck of the woods and can’t stand seeing the big chains packed on the high street, and then some of the lovely independent shops that Chiswick offers being walked by. I don’t get it
@simonsarris Underrated advice, especially in a walkable neighbourhood. I go often and I regularly get a 10-15 min catch ups with neighbours or friends that live locally. Last Saturday a friend was walking her dog, saw me in the window and stopped in. We had 2 coffees over ~3 hours.
@chrismwojcik I think this is right. Especially as the sport grows for hobbyist. The basement gym might work for the young and competitive and some others. But the young professional or parents who have a job and kids, they’ll opt for the mats with coworking/coffee/sauna/etc..
@Camp4 A stark contrast to London, where the machines automatically prompt for a tip, but the baristas and bartenders reach over the counter and furiously press x on the card reader so that you don’t tip
@michaelmiraflor Working in the industry, I think in part this is also lots of companies moving in-house, and not due to advertising dying per se. It’s much easier to manage everything than it once was; less need to work with agencies.
@thesamparr I think an underrated chapter -and probably a piece even more relevant today- is @tferriss chapter on Filling The Void in 4HWW. It is not easy to figure out what to do with time, and how to find meaning, if all you know is work
@levelsio Same conversations after several rounds of jiu jitsu. You’re exhausted and half delirious. My favourite part of training is these post-class 30 min catch ups
@PradyuPrasad I’m almost 10 years out of university and still, a few times a year, wake up from a nightmare that I’m missing an exam, missed an assignment deadline, or that semester is almost through and I haven’t been to a class yet
