Graduate students are primarily students and trainees, not ordinary workers. Academia is a calling. I suspect unionization will tip the balance so faculty prefer, at the margin, to hire post-docs to do research in their labs rather than students. https://t.co/4KXYiyYeAP
@Yogesh__Pandey@AcademicChatter@academicvoices@PhDVoice hey, depends on the jobs you’re looking into. some jobs do care about pubs. i was in your exact same situation earlier this year. i chose to let go of some projects in order to finish the phd early to enter industry asap. feel free to message me if u wanna chat
I'm getting questions from early-stage PhD students who eventually want to move to industry and want to prepare. Seems like the most useful stepping stone would be to go for an internship in years 3 & 4. But where does one find out about neurotech internships? 🤔
@patrickmineault Tagged this tweet awhile back and wanted to share a helpful resource - A couple of us in UCLA's psych/neuro dept hosted a panel on PhD internships in tech. Not neurotech-specific (it's more general) but good starting point for psych/neuro PhDs: https://t.co/CpNRpEgz79
.@_du_meng, @ph_fisher, Lee Lazar and I (we're all in UCLA's Social Psych/Neuro PhD program) hosted a grad student panel yesterday on "PhD Internships in Tech" & folks found it helpful. Wanted to share it more broadly. Please retweet/share if you'd like! https://t.co/CpNRpEgz79

(1) Factors to consider when looking into doing a PhD internship
