@elmar_0_dsa@xChessPuzzles@chess_feed Indeed. The obvious way for white is to move the rook to break the box instead of attacking the black king with the pion. After that black can't win.

@JOBhakdi Little flaw in your argumentation: you're right that those countries will have to up their game... but they won't be allies anymore. You can't threaten your partners that you'll invade them and still think they'll have your back... They'll just search for new, reliable partners.
Info: https://t.co/iHuc125Xc2
The company hired me to lead their "Agile Transformation."
I don't know what Agile means.
Nobody does.
That's why it works.
I make $425,000 a year.
To move sticky notes.
From left to right.
On a board.
The board is digital now.
The sticky notes cost $80,000 in Jira licenses.
Progress.
Day one, I said "we need to break down silos."
Everyone nodded.
Silos are bad.
I don't know why.
But destroying them is a career.
My career.
I introduced "squads."
Squads are teams.
But disrupted.
We disrupted the teams into teams.
Different names.
Same people.
Same problems.
But Agile problems now.
Agile problems are strategic.
A senior engineer asked what we're actually changing.
I said, "The mindset."
He asked what that means.
I said, "It's a journey."
He asked where we're going.
I said, "Toward agility."
He asked what agility means.
I pointed at the sticky notes.
They were moving left to right.
That's velocity.
We have velocity now.
The VP of Engineering said two-week sprints don't fit their work.
I said, "That's waterfall thinking."
Waterfall is bad.
Like silos.
I don't know what waterfall is.
But I know it's bad.
She stopped talking.
Waterfall accusations end conversations.
We had a retrospective.
In the retro, we discussed what went wrong.
Everything went wrong.
We put it on sticky notes.
Then we moved the sticky notes.
Into a column called "Parking Lot."
The Parking Lot is where problems go to die.
It's full.
We don't look at it.
That's agile.
Velocity is up 40%.
I defined velocity.
I also defined the points.
I also defined the stories.
We're crushing it.
At the things I made up.
To measure.
Ourselves.
The CEO asked for ROI.
I showed a chart.
The chart went up.
Charts should go up.
This one did.
I didn't label the Y-axis.
Nobody asked.
Leadership is confidence.
We do standups now.
Every day.
We stand.
For 45 minutes.
Standing is agile.
Sitting is waterfall.
My legs hurt.
But we're transforming.
The transformation is now "Phase 3."
Phase 1 was assessment.
Phase 2 was implementation.
Phase 3 is "continuous improvement."
Continuous means forever.
Forever means job security.
I'm very secure.
My contract was extended.
Three more years.
For "cultural impact."
The culture is confused.
But impacted.
Agile transformation isn't about being agile.
It's about transforming.
Continuously.
Toward more transformation.
The destination is the journey.
The journey is billable.
@FinancialPhys Because we don't have capitalism. We have a market controlled by government rules and central bank money that is dilluted every day. No way of saving, true price finding or economic calculation. In such circumstances capitalism can't exist.
@Khokh27@SamHollanders@HannoLustig Sorry but that's a rather uninformed take. The global market cares about the stability of the system. It's all based on trust. Once that's broken the system will fail. Would you let me keep your money if I can decide to take it for whatever reason? No sane country would/will.
@SamHollanders@HannoLustig I wouldn't go that far. The trust is gone no matter what. The fact they seriously considered this was enough. You can be sure alternatives are being built right now. The consequences will become clear later.
@HannoLustig@sdevlieg If those risks were indeed so small, the other EU countries could have just signed of on sharing the full risk pro rata of their GDP. The fact that in the end they would rather go with plan B shows they didn't believe there was no risk. There just was no risk for their countries.
The war on privacy and encryption goes on. This time in the UK. Under the “Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill”, lawmakers now want client-side scanning on every phone and tablet.
The lawmakers write: “Any relevant device supplied for use in the UK must have installed tamper-proof system software which is highly effective at preventing the recording, transmitting (by any means, including livestreaming) and viewing of CSAM using that device.”
Once again, they use “what about the children”, this time to install state spyware that would continuously scan every action on a phone or tablet and watch everything that is shown on the screen. This will effectively ban end-to-end encrypted communication and open source operating systems like GrapheneOS and forbid that people have administrator rights on their own devices.
The bill also seeks “Action to prohibit the provision of VPN services to children in the United Kingdom” and wants “all regulated user-to-user services to use highly-effective age assurance measures to prevent children under the age of 16 from becoming or being users.” In practice, this means identity checks for VPN users, making things like anonymous whistleblowing difficult.
The attack on secure and private communication is worldwide. Now is the time for resistance. Demand transparency from your politicians, and privacy for the people.
The European Commission lost the Chat Control 2.0 battle over access to end-to-end encrypted data. By the summer 2026, they will be back with their next attempt: Going Dark. This time some EU member states want to include VPN services.
The Going Dark initiative, or ProtectEU as the Commission now calls it, wants to “enable law enforcement authorities to access encrypted data in a lawful manner”. This is a Chat Control 3.0 attempt.
The EU Commission and several member states are also looking for new rules on data retention. In a new ”Presidency outcome paper”, the member states discuss metadata retention: which websites you visit, and who is communicating with whom, when and how often. The ambition is “to have the broadest possible scope of application” and this time some member states also want the proposal to include VPN services.
Mullvad has spent the last three years opposing Chat Control 2.0 – even though the law would have affected our business positively.
We will continue to fight Going Dark with full force, regardless of whether VPNs are included or not. If VPNs are included, and if Going Dark becomes law, we will never spy on our customers no matter what.
@win_capitalism@IIICapital Free markets are based on property rights and free exchange. Violating property rights (by threats, fysical attacks, technical superiority or any other means) has no place in a free market.
@lopp For every bitcoin that is bought, a bitcoin is sold. It doesn't matter how much is bought as long as there are people willing (and able) to sell at that price. Price is set at the margin. It has little to do with the volume being bought/sold. 😌
