@Saapa7@PresidencyZA S Korean government launches immediate probe into Halloween festivity deaths this past weekend. Why did SA government not do the same when 21 kids died in a tavern in June? Why is the cause of death still not public? Do SA lives matter less than S Korean?

@Abramjee@SAPoliceService@Saapa7@SAPoliceService Police officers under the influence while on duty is not new - it's an ongoing problem. How do SAPS enforce liquor laws when some of them are part of the problem? When some go to problem liquor outlets not to uphold the law but to drink and get paid off?
@DrSueGoldstein@profparry Western Cape has its own legislation, passed in Nov 2018, which allows for this. For other provinces, there's no legislation currently that expressly forbids it, except for inadequate proximity laws in some. So even if the BELA Bill isn't yet law, they can still apply.
@saapa7 This is already a dangerous reality in South Africa, with many outlets staying open until 4am, if not throughout the night, despite policy recommendations. Put health and safety before profit. #AlcoholSaferSA#PassLiquorBillsNow
We are currently in our workshop in Cape Town finalizing submissions as part of the public participation process related to the BELA Bill and empowering participants to generate more submissions when they go back to communities.

@DBE_SA@ParliamentofRSA Alcohol may have 'a place in society' (Minister Angie Motshekga), but it has no place in our schools. Say NO! to the clauses in the BELA Bill that will allow alcohol on school premises. Say YES! to #AlcoholFreeSchools and an #AlcoholSafeSA
Time is running to submit comments on the BELA Bill. SAAPA SA would like to encourage individuals and organisation's to object to the clauses of the Bill that will allow alcohol in schools for more info visit https://t.co/YwB9HCeNTJ
