So the question is not only: where do resident macrophages come from? It is also: when does self-maintenance become durable, and when does it fail to do so? That is the problem Establishment Kinetics is meant to solve. Full paper in Advances in Immunology https://t.co/JtcwezzZTB

What defines human pDC diversity? Our newest work led by @UlezkoAlina in @ImmunityCP uncovers a complex landscape shaped by age and tissue niche, including a cycling pDC subset that declines with age but persists in the BM & expands in malignant BPDCN. https://t.co/O0UJ5O02sa
The proposed FY2027 budget includes a $5.8B (−12.3%) cut to the NIH. United for Medical Research calculated this could cost ~50,000 jobs and $11.6B in economic activity, with 26 states losing >$100M each. A tragedy for science, patients, and the economy. #NIH
Artist Noga Erez became the first Israeli artist to perform at Coachella 🇮🇱
At the end of her set, she said she was deeply grateful to be there, adding that it took strength she didn’t know she had to get here.
She also said she loves making music and that she does it to bring people together.
What a show!
Neutralizing antibodies are not the whole story. In @NatRevImmunol, we highlight an alternative mode of protection: T cells can eliminate infection at its earliest stage, before it becomes detectable. We term this “abortive infection”

We argue for sunsetting the M1/M2 dichotomy in eye macrophage research, supported by single cell RNA-seq data demonstrating a complexity that does not conform to this binary framework. 50 day free link

Resident tissue #macrophages (RTM) are now recognized as integral regulators of tissue physiology, not transient immune sentinels. But one fundamental question remains unresolved: why do some populations achieve lifelong self-maintenance, while others are progressively replaced under steady-state conditions? 🧵
So the question is not only: where do resident macrophages come from? It is also: when does self-maintenance become durable, and when does it fail to do so? That is the problem Establishment Kinetics is meant to solve. Full paper in Advances in Immunology https://t.co/JtcwezzZTB
