در سومین سالگرد زندانی شدن عمران خان، یک پرسش اساسی این است که آیا این اقدام به سود کشور بوده است یا خیر. پاکستان در سیاست خارجی به برخی موفقیت‌ها دست یافته است، اما آیا مردم پاکستان و خود کشور نسبت به سه سال پیش وضعیت بهتری دارند؟ پاسخ آشکارا منفی است.

اقتصاد در وضعیتی بحرانی و ناپایدار قرار دارد و دولت با درماندگی در جست‌وجوی راه نجات مالی است. بلوچستان وارد مرحله‌ای از شورش گسترده شده است. کشمیر تحت اداره پاکستان با خشونت‌های شدید روبه‌رو است. وضعیت خیبر پختونخوا نیز تفاوتی ندارد.

حتی در عرصه سیاست خارجی نیز عقب‌گردهایی دیده می‌شود؛ روابط با افغانستان و هند بدتر شده است.

در مجموع، وضعیت بسیار وخیم است و نیاز به یک بازتنظیم اساسی وجود دارد. این بازتنظیم باید آشتی و مصالحه داخلی را نیز در بر بگیرد.
