This Venn diagram demonstrates the wildly varying levels of agreement between various frailty instruments in this cohort of 50 frail patients awaiting renal transplant - only 3 people were diagnosed as frail using all 4 instruments #BGSconf

Process evaluations are really important in helping to understand how (oral) health interventions work.
They are particularly useful for interventions that include a number of interacting components operating in different ways and also when interventions address complex problems, or seek to generate multiple outcomes.
Process evaluations can be independent studies or conducted simultaneously with outcome evaluations such as RCTs. They examine the processes through which an intervention generates outcomes ie how they work or if they don’t, why not.
We have just published two important but very different process evaluations in @CommDentOralEpi 👇
1. A Theoretically Informed Process Evaluation in Parallel to a Feasibility Study of a Complex Oral Health Intervention Using NICE Guidelines in a Care Home Setting

Over 30,000 rotten teeth were removed from children in hospitals last year. This is a national scandal and we all have a role to play in preventing this debilitating disease.

Dental caries, gum disease, tooth loss, and oral cancers affect nearly half of the world’s population.
And yet, people continue to face challenges and inequalities in access to oral health care, particularly in low-income communities and other vulnerable groups.
I thank #Thailand for hosting the first @WHO meeting on global oral health — it plays an important role in the preparations for the 2025 #UNGA High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases.
We are delighted to announce we have 4 training studentships to enable early career researchers to study for a Masters degree at @UCL_DentalPH or @UofGDental (& School of Health and Wellbeing).
