@SpinelliVerity@nicnac30 @MyHomeMoveHelp That's great news, fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. Please let us know.
I moved to a different solicitor on Mon, and they've already sent me their review of the contract and raised enquiries. Wish I found them 2 months ago.
@SpinelliVerity@nicnac30 @MyHomeMoveHelp Yes you're absolutely right! Tbh it's a gamble either way. I'm in the position where even if MHM got back to full speed this week, they've been going so slowly since the start that it makes sense for me to leave. But others might not calculate it the same way
@nicnac30@SpinelliVerity @MyHomeMoveHelp done or pretty much done? did MHM tell you that? you could ask the estate agent to ask the other solicitor if they have actually received enquiries from MHM. Then you'll know for sure.
@SpinelliVerity@nicnac30 @MyHomeMoveHelp also, yes you're correct that the new solicitor won't accept enquiries from the old one. BUT the other party has already done the research to provide answers, so in most cases, they just need to resend the same answers (+ any new ones the new sol asks)
@SpinelliVerity@nicnac30 @MyHomeMoveHelp it depends on the speed of both solicitors, but it won't take more than 4 weeks. my new solicitor was submitting enq within 48hrs of receiving the contract
MHM sat on my contract without submitting a single enquiry for 5 weeks. no hope that staying with MHM would be faster
@nicnac30 @MyHomeMoveHelp Who told you that? MHM? Have MHM got replies to all enquiries? If so, yes, you'll add another 2-4 weeks to the process. But then do you have confidence that MHM will be back to normal, and at full speed in 2-4 weeks?
@urbanletap @MyHomeMoveHelp Do you have a copy of your searches? If so, you can send them to your new solicitor. Otherwise, it's probably quicker for the new solicitor to request new searches honestly. Then claim the money back from MHM
@PremPropLawyers Really important update from CLC (the regulator) for people thinking about moving to a different conveyancing company:

@Fi5Drums @MyHomeMoveHelp There's no penalty for changing before exchange. If you've paid for the searches and they've requested the searches you won't get a refund on that though
@MarkJNicoll@ArthurMacT@joshcomley@PremPropLawyers They shouldn't really be doing work for you and your buyer because it could be a conflict interest (not your fault of course). I changed conveyancer today and it's the best feeling of relief
