En el 2001 eBay era la mayor empresa de consumer internet del mundo y compró el 20% de MELI pagando $0 + una subsidiaria que tenían en Brasil. Luego compraron Paypal que por un tiempo fue la mayor fintech del mundo. Hoy MELI vale más que eBay y Paypal juntas. Esto es también una lección de lo que sucede en nuestra industria cuando las empresas dejan de innovar, de tomar riesgos, de iterar ante el fracaso, de apostar al largo plazo, de contratar y retener a la mejor gente y de tener siempre el mejor producto.
