Introducing...
I'm Wilson Benjamin
I recently completed the ALX Virtual Assistant Programme, and I'm starting my journey as a Data Entry Virtual Assistant.
I'm passionate about helping businesses stay organized through accurate data entry and reliable admin support.
Before adding a new record, take a few seconds to check whether it already exists.
Good data isn't just about adding information.
It's also about avoiding unnecessary duplication.
Tomorrow, I'll share another simple practice that helps keep data accurate as it grows
π Day 17/40 | The Hidden Cost of Duplicate Data
One customer.
Three different entries.
One says "John Doe." Another says "J. Doe." A third says "John D."
At first, it doesn't seem like a big deal.

But duplicate records can lead to: β’ Contacting the same customer twice. β’ Incorrect sales or inventory reports. β’ Wasted time cleaning up records later. β’ Decisions based on inaccurate information.
That's why one of the first things I look for in any dataset is consistency.
That's one lesson I'm trying to apply in my work every day.
Next on my list here, I'll share a simple Excel shortcut that can save you time, especially if you work with spreadsheets regularly.
π Day 16/40 | Small Habits Beat Big Fixes
You don't need to wait until the end of the week to clean up your spreadsheet.
Update it as you go.
Correct small mistakes when you notice them.
Keep names, dates, and statuses consistent.
Five minutes of maintenance each day is usually easier than spending two hours fixing everything at the end of the month.
The same principle applies beyond spreadsheets.
Small, consistent habits often prevent big problems.
Good spreadsheets don't just store information, they guide people to enter it correctly.
Tomorrow, I'll share another simple habit that makes working with spreadsheets faster and more efficient.

π Day 15/40 | Stop Mistakes Before They Happen
One of my favorite spreadsheet features is Data Validation.
Instead of letting anyone type anything into a cell, you can create a drop-down list with options like:
β’ Pending
β’ Completed
β’ Cancelled
Now everyone enters data the same way.
No more:
β "Complete"
β "completed"
β "Done"
Just one consistent option.
It's a small feature, but it helps keep your data clean, accurate, and much easier to analyze later.

If someone opens it for the first time, they should be able to understand it in minutes.
That's one of the habits that turns a spreadsheet into a reliable business tool.
Tomorrow, I'll share a simple feature that helps reduce data entry errors before they happen.

π Day 14/40 | Build Spreadsheets Your Future Self Will Thank You For
One mistake I see beginners make is creating spreadsheets that only they can understand.
Column names like "Info", "Data", or "Misc." might make sense today...
#dailyprogress
But will they make sense next month? Or to someone else on your team?
Instead, use clear headings like:
β Customer Name
β Order Date
β Payment Status
β Phone Number
A good spreadsheet shouldn't need an explanation.

Small habits like this don't just improve spreadsheets.
They improve communication.
Tomorrow, I'll share another simple practice that makes spreadsheets easier to read and maintain.

π Day 13/40 | A Small Habit That Prevents Big Mistakes
Here's a habit I think every spreadsheet user should adopt:
Don't leave cells blank if the information is intentionally missing.
Instead, use something consistent like:
- N/A (Not Available)
- Pending
- Not Yet Received
Why?
A blank cell leaves people guessing.
Is the information missing?
Was it forgotten?
Or does it simply not exist?
Clear records make it easier for everyone working with the data, including your future self.
