Military leaders crushing elected governments is a terrifying pattern. Egypt saw this when General Sisi imprisoned Mohamed Morsi, starving him until he died in court.
They are running the Morsi playbook step by step.
Now Imran Khan is in a Pakistani prison under General Asim Munir, warning his family of a similar fate. It’s not a historical playbook; it’s about a man’s life who is the democratic choice of millions of Pakistanis.
Morsi’s slow-motion tragedy was ignored by the world, and Pakistan must not follow the same dark playbook.

U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed criticizes Pakistan’s military dictatorship, referring to the military dictatorship in Egypt, where his parents immigrated from, calling for democracy and human rights. He spoke today in Southfield at the Pakistan Association of America’s annual event celebrating Pakistan’s Independence and US Independence.

So that's a yes, you are against funding to things like the Iron Dome?
Abdul El-Sayed: "I am against it, in large part because I just don't understand why anybody thinks it's the right thing to do to send our tax dollars abroad, to fund foreign militaries when our own kids barely get to go to schools that are functional."

At least 30 people are alleged to have been killed in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in the past two days as part of what has been claimed is a brutal state crackdown that has engulfed the disputed region for weeks. https://t.co/hci1dX3vWR
Shocking reports from Azad Kashmir of live fire being used against peaceful protesters are deeply alarming.
Violence against people exercising their democratic rights has no place in any society. Every effort must now be made to prevent any further escalation, protect civilian life and bring an immediate end to the bloodshed.
Now is the moment for restraint, not retaliation; for dialogue, not violence. Britain and the international community should use every diplomatic channel available to help restore calm and support a peaceful resolution.
💢🇵🇰 Pakistan accused of killing at least 30 unarmed protesters in two days in Pakistan-administered Kashmir
Pakistani security forces opened fire on demonstrators near Rawalakot in Pakistan-administered Kashmir this week, with organizers reporting dozens killed as tens of thousands attempted a long march toward the regional capital, Muzaffarabad.
At least 30 people were killed over two days, 25 on Monday and five on Tuesday, according to the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), the civil society group leading more than 50 days of protests over electoral reform and detained activists. The Guardian said it could not independently verify the toll, as media were barred from the area and an internet blackout remained in place.
Organizers say forces fired on unarmed marchers without warning; police say armed protesters fired first, killing a paramilitary Ranger. JAAC says security forces later removed bodies from streets and hospitals in Mirpur to conceal the killings.
A resident who reached Islamabad told Drop Site that Rangers had raided homes and forced women at gunpoint to cook for them. Amnesty International has called on Pakistan to lift the communications blackout.
