How to build trustworthy and sustainable #AI? @sameer_pujari says 2 key areas: governance readiness and ethics. Without enforced ethics, we risk creating more inequity. How do we benchmark AI tools? He spoke of the @WHO-led group that developed normative guidance. He pointed out that AI must be localized - adapted to local conditions. #DiagnosisForAll
#AI holds immense promise for transforming health systems, improving health and saving lives.
Congratulations, @TUDelft_AI, on becoming a @WHO Collaborating Centre on AI for Health Governance.
My thanks also to @ITU and @WIPO for their partnership in this new collaborating centre through the global initiative on AI for health.
This week, global health leaders at #WHS2024 are asking the difficult questions about how to build trust & inspire innovations for a healthier future. While #AI offers powerful opportunities for #SRHR, there are risks.

Watch @GawandeUSAID speak about the opportunities of using #AI in healthcare ⬇️
“While #AI is a tool with enormous potential, what matters is how we use it.
Good governance, based on ethical principles, clear policy and regulatory oversight is necessary to ensure safety and equity, while also not hindering innovation.
We must also ensure that the use of AI and other new technologies helps to narrow inequities in access to health services, rather than widen them” — @DrTedros kicks off #WHA77 roundtable on artificial intelligence and health ⬇️
It’s here: #AI is changing #SRHR— but how can policymakers make sure it supports #HealthForAll?
