While temperatures climbed above 30°C, bus driver cabs can exceed 40°C, creating dangerous working conditions and pushing drivers to their limits. Many drivers report faulty air conditioning, inadequate cooling systems, and pressure to keep buses running despite unsafe temperatures.

Right now, @UniteLondonEast is demanding urgent action from TfL and bus operators as part of the Fight Fatigue Now campaign - and with the Mayor of London recent statement of support, Tfl may be starting to listen.

As the UK experiences increasingly frequent heatwaves and rising tempretures, our union will continue fighting for stronger workplace protections across regions and sectors. That means better health and safety measures, effective cooling systems, improved ventilation, sensible workplace adjustments, and employers taking responsibility for keeping workers safe in extreme heat.
