శ్రీ మాధవ విద్యారణ్యస్వామి చరిత్ర. శ్రీ గడియారం రామకృష్ణశర్మ రాసినది.

దక్షిణ భారత రాజకీయ సంక్షోభము అని ఒక అధ్యాయం. పదమూడు పధ్నాలుగవ శతాబ్దపు భారతం గురించి.

"ఉత్తరభారతమున ఢిల్లీలో పీఠము పెట్టిన తురుష్కులు ప్రచండ సేనలతో దక్షిణదేశములపై దండయాత్రలు చేసి హిందూ రాజ్యములను నాశనము చేసిరి. అప్పటినుండి భారతభూమిలో ధర్మ గ్లాని ప్రారంభమైనది" అని ఒక వాక్యం.

ఇటువంటి విషయాల గురించిన చర్చలు ఈ మధ్యన కనపడుతున్నాయి సామాజిక మాధ్యమాలలో. చాలా మందికి వీటి గురించి చర్చించటం ఇష్టం లేదు. వీటి గురించిన చర్చ చేస్తే వర్తమానంలో భవిష్యత్తులో ఏదో జరిగిపోతుందని వీరికి భయం. కాబట్టి ఇటువంటివి అసలు ఎప్పుడూ జరగలేదు అని అనుకుంటూ ఒక ఊహా లోకంలో బతుకుతూ ఉంటారు. సామరస్యత మిశ్రమ సంస్కృతి ఉమ్మడి కుటుంబంలో అందరూ కలిసి ఉండేవారు ఇటువంటి ఊహలు చేస్తూ గడిపేస్తూ ఉంటారు.

ఈ ధర్మ గ్లాని అన్న పదం చాలా చక్కగా కుదిరింది పైన పేర్కొన్న వాక్యంలో. యదా యదా హి ధర్మస్య గ్లానిర్భవతి అన్న గీతా వాక్యం అందరికీ తెలిసిందే. దీని గురించి మాట్లాడుతూ ఒక వేద పండితుడు ఇలా అన్నారు నాతో ఒక సారి ఒక సంభాషణలో. అదలా గుర్తుండి పోయింది నాకు. ధర్మానికి గ్లాని కలగవచ్చు కానీ నాశం కలగదు అని. అంటే ధర్మం క్షీణించవచ్చు కానీ పూర్తిగా తుడిచిపెట్టుకుపోదు అని.

ఐతే అసలు అప్పుడు జరిగింది గ్లాని అని గుర్తించటానికి కూడా కొందరు తెలుగు సాహిత్యకారులకు మేధావులకు కష్టంగా అనిపిస్తుంది. అదే విచిత్రం. వారి దృష్టిలో ఇదేదో చిన్న ఫ్యాక్షన్ గొడవ లాంటిది. ఇద్దరు హిందూ రాజులు కొట్టుకున్నట్టే తురుష్కులు కూడా ఇక్కడి హిందూ రాజులతో పోరాడారు. ఇదొక పెద్ద విషయమా. దీనికి ధర్మ గ్లాని అని పెద్ద పేరు వాడటం అవసరమా అని అంటారు వారు. వారి ప్రకారం తురుష్కులను హిందువులను వేరుగా చూడకూడదు. అనంతమైన సనాతనంలో అందరూ సమానమే. హిందువులు అనేవారు లేరు. తురుష్కులు అనే వారు ఉన్నా వారిని వేరుగా చూడకూడదు. వీరి తీరే వేరే.

సరే నేను పుస్తకం చదువుకుంటాను ఇక.

విద్యారణ్యుల గురించి అప్పటి కాలంలో తురుష్కుల దాడుల గురించి ఆ ధార్మిక సాంస్కృతిక సంఘర్షణల గురించి మహా పండితులు ఉప్పులూరి గణపతి శాస్త్రి రాసిన వేదసార రత్నావళి అన్న పుస్తకంలో ఒక అధ్యాయంలో కూడా చాలా వివరం ఉంది. ఈ పుస్తకం గురించి కూడా కొంత చర్చ అవసరం.

ఎందుకంటే శాస్త్రం తెలిసిన బ్రాహ్మణ పండితులు ఇస్లాం రాజుల దండయాత్రల గురించి పల్లెత్తు మాట కూడా అనలేదు అనీ వారిది సర్వ ధర్మ సమభావమనీ ఇస్లాం గురించిన విమర్శ అంతా కూడా హిందుత్వ రాజకీయ ప్రభావమనీ వాదించే వారు ఉన్నారు మన దగ్గర. కాబట్టి ఇటువంటి పుస్తకాల పునరాధ్యయనం చర్చ అవసరం ప్రస్తుత కాలానికి.
