Bedankt Filip!
Filip Joos, the man who became the voice of the voiceless and of the grieving people of Iran.
A sports commentator for VRT who blended honor and integrity with sports journalism.
During the Belgium–Iran match, he explained why Iranian fans at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles booed the anthem. In support of their action, he said: “This anthem belongs to a mad regime that is in power.”
Speaking about the widespread presence of the Lion and Sun flag, he said: “The flag you see on the ground is the flag of the Islamic Republic, a government that kills its own citizens.”
For a heartbroken nation, this commentator became a symbol of humanity. As he spoke, tears filled the eyes of many Iranians. At last, someone was there to hear the voice of Iranians and reflect it to the world.
The heroes of the Belgium–Iran match were the Iranian people and the commentator of the game.
Thank you, Filip!
@sporza@Vannieuwkerke 🙏
@VRT
@pastafiesta1@raiseparadise Loanwords are a natural part of language, but a national flag is about identity, not linguistics. Iran is a sovereign country with thousands of years of Persian history, yet its official flag bears a foreign language forced upon it by a regime. No other country does that.
Chapeau Belgische verslaggever!!!
#belirn
What about the Iranian people? We promised to help them. Among other things, we should have armed them (the Reagan Doctrine). What now? Anything? The MOU is silent.
What about the Lebanese Christians, who have wanted to be rid of Hezbollah for 40-years and take back their country from Iran? The MOU ensures Hezbollah's (meaning Iran's) continuing control over that country, and existential threat to Israel.
This has become one of the most common issues during the war, where leftists in the west push stories and claims about Iran and the media seem to run with it. Yet the voices of Iranians themselves have a different story to tell.
Why do people deny the truth of the Iranian people and replace it with made up lies from those who don’t even know where Iran is on the map?
Why does the Belgian 🇧🇪 government continue to tolerate supporters of the Islamic Republic and other jihadist regimes or organizations? 👇🏻
📽 “Minister, just yesterday we were confronted with these sickening images from Belgium, from Brussels.
This individual — and I’m putting it politely — glorifies the jihadist mass murderers, father and son Khamenei. She threatens jihadist violence and literally says, I quote: ‘Death to the enemies of the Islamic Republic.’
And, to top it off, she defiantly adds that she would be perfectly fine with being deported.
Minister, I can assure you: this is only the tip of the jihadist iceberg in our country. So I ask you: what are you waiting for to finally deport and expel all this kind of jihadist scum from the country?” 👇🏻
@SamvanRooy1 Look at the writing on her hand: "Beware the day Khamenei orders Jihad."
Has Europe forgotten what "Jihad" looks like? From the 2016 Brussels bombings to the murders of Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh. These aren't just slogans; they're threats. Why the indifference?
@hakarmali6@1hahsrim@VividProwess@PahlaviReza The regime's shopping list: Pakistan, Nigeria, and now Tanzania. Imagine being so hated you have to buy fake foreign fans to post your propaganda.
I asked Reza Pahlavi today if he's an Israeli asset. "Of course not", the former crown prince of Iran replied.
I also asked him why he does not exclude to restore a permament monarchy in Iran. Isn't that what a true democrat would do? He does not agree...
