Thanks @Sidprabhakar7 for this update.... or rather recap! This has been a regular occurrence - popping it's head up every few months. The one difference between what happened last time and this time is the smell has changed - from a urine/stp type of smell last time this is more like a dead fish/ dead rat type of smell.

Most of us brushed it off as just some pest having died outside the window for the first few days.... we even wondered if someone had killed a dog or cow in the neighbourhood. Only on the 3rd or 4th day did we realise it was covering a large area that we asked around and found that the smells were emanating from around the Pharma cluster and reaching all the way to Semmanchery.

We thank @dt_next @the_hindu @ThanthiTV @NewsTamilTV24x7 @dinamalarweb for the support in reporting this issue. We hope Tiruporur MLA #Vijayaraj will be able to find a solution along with @Tnpcbofficial & @Chengalpattu01 and hold those responsible accountable and not brush it aside like last time.

If you have never lived in the U.S. you should not make such stupid comments . Just for the record if you make 190k in the U.S. you can easily buy a 3BHK condominium for about 300K even in a city like Austin even today . You can buy a BMW 3 series base model for about 50k USD which works out to 1/4th of 190K.

With an income of 40 lakhs in India if you were to 2x the capital and say pay 80 lakhs you won’t get even a 2bhk in any of the tier 1 cities in India . A BMW 3 lands at 80 lakhs or more in India which is 2X the annual comp.

I have not even mentioned lower interest rates , cheaper lease terms and ability to transfer credit card balance to another card and many such aspects which increase the purchasing power substantially in the U.S. . By the way public schooling is of very high quality and almost free in the U.S. .

I sold my Mahindra Thar and Tata Harrier to Cars24 in February. It's been 5 months, and my issues are still not resolved.

For my Mahindra Thar, Cars24 deducted ₹500 from my payment for a traffic challan but never paid it. Because of their negligence, I had to visit the authority twice for party peshi and eventually pay the challan myself. Even after the RTO signatures are complete, they are still holding ₹10,000 for the party peshi.

For my Tata Harrier, Cars24 deducted around ₹30,000–35,000 for pending challans. Once again, they failed to pay them. It was only after repeated complaints that the challans were finally cleared.

After my previous post, the Cars24 team contacted me and asked me to delete it, promising that everything would be resolved. I trusted them and removed the post. Today, when I asked for an update, I was simply told to send another email.

This is completely unacceptable. If you can't manage the paperwork and payments properly, why are you taking customers' cars?

Please repost this so more people know what I have gone through. Think twice before selling your car to Cars24. My experience has been nothing but delays, broken promises, and poor customer service.

OMR Residents Raise Alarm Over Toxic "Dead Fish" Odor

Demand Immediate TNPCB Investigation into Alathur Pharma Cluster

Citizens across the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) corridor are raising urgent concerns over severe and continuous odour pollution impacting residential communities from Thiruporur all the way up to Semmancheri. Residents report being subjected to a nauseating, sharp "dead fish" and sulphurous stench that infiltrates their homes on a daily basis.

The hazardous odour, highly characteristic of carbamate and amine chemistry, reliably begins late in the evening between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM and often persists throughout the night until 6:00 AM.

Meteorological tracking via the "Windy" app confirms that prevailing winds in the region are blowing heavily from the south. This wind pattern carries the chemical emissions directly from the Alathur SIDCO Pharmaceutical Industrial Estate, a notified pharma cluster located approximately 10–15 km south of the affected residential zones.

The Alathur estate is home to numerous large-scale drug manufacturers, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) producers, and specialty chemical plants, including Orchid Pharma, Strides Pharma, Apex Labs, Global Pharma, and Vivimed Labs, among others. The sharp, dead-decay-like odour currently plaguing OMR is a known signature of the chemical processes utilized by such facilities, strongly indicating the unauthorized nocturnal discharge of untreated effluents or gaseous emissions.

While residents have mapped the affected apartment complexes and correlated the odour with wind patterns, citizens do not have the regulatory authority or equipment to pinpoint the exact company - or companies - responsible for these hazardous emissions.

Families are being forced to breathe toxic, chemical-laden air every single night. We cannot identify the specific culprit among the dozens of facilities in the Alathur cluster, but the authorities certainly can.

FOMRRA and the affected residents urgently call upon the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), the Thiruporur MLA and the Chengalpattu Collector's Office to:
- Launch an immediate, rigorous investigation into the Alathur SIDCO Pharmaceutical Industrial Estate.
- Conduct unannounced, late-night site inspections and continuous emission monitoring between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
- Identify the specific pharmaceutical or chemical units discharging untreated effluents or venting un-scrubbed gases.
- Take strict regulatory and legal action against the offending facilities to permanently halt this public nuisance.

Residents are also prepared to approach the local police if the nocturnal pollution continues unabated.

Bought a Hyundai Venue 1.2 NA in Sept 2023.

Average mileage with AC: ~20 kmpl.
Best I ever managed: 26 kmpl.

Then came the glorious E20 revolution. 🇮🇳🙏

My car was E20-compatible, so naturally E20 could NEVER be the problem. By May 2026, the mileage had gracefully evolved to 10-11 kmpl.

Took it to Hyundai.

“Sir, the car is perfectly fine.” ✅
“Could be adulterated fuel.” ✅
“Many cars are facing mileage issues.” ✅

Fantastic.

The car is fine.
E20 is fantastic.
The government is correct.
The service centre is correct.

Apparently the only defective component is the owner who knows how much petrol he fills and how many kilometres he drives. 🤡

And according to Nitin Gadkari ji, you apparently can't even properly check your car's mileage yourself - you should get it checked at a service centre.

Of course! 😂

What kind of primitive mathematics is this "full tank → drive → full tank → kilometres ÷ litres" nonsense?

Please don't try such advanced calculations at home. Only trained professionals at authorised service centres possess access to the classified technology known as… division. 🙏

Eventually, I sold the Venue after ~2.5 years despite having extended warranty, SOT, Super SOT, etc. - and bought a Tata Nexon EV 45.

Maybe there was an undetected engine issue. Maybe an ECU/software update changed something. I don't know.

But don't you dare suspect E20.

Your mileage dropped? You calculated it wrong.

Your range dropped? Wrong again.

Your fuel expenses increased? Skill issue.

Just remember:

DON'T TRUST YOUR ODOMETER.
DON'T TRUST THE FUEL PUMP.
DON'T TRUST YOUR WALLET.
AND FOR GOD'S SAKE, DON'T DIVIDE KILOMETRES BY LITRES AT HOME.

A man who doesn’t know what a 2.0L or 3.0L engine is, the difference between AWD and RWD, A/T and M/T tyres, CVT, DCT or DSG transmissions, what a transfer case (TC) is,

what naturally aspirated or twin-turbo engines are, or what LSD, diff locks, IFS, and IRS mean, shouldn’t be lecturing car owners about fuel policy or claiming ethanol has no effect on engines.

The working class of this country moves on two wheelers. Their kids go to school, the men/women travel to work, mostly on two wheelers. Over 80% of two wheelers in India aren't compatible with e20. Taking away e5/e10 which is the right fuel for them, is an attack on the right to livelihood of our people.
@nitin_gadkari @PetroleumMin please do not take away the right to correct fuel. We have paid road taxes for 15 yrs. You are bound to provide the right fuel.

Here it is. Gadkari ji If you don’t believe fellow Indians, maybe you’ll believe a foreign national sharing the same experience about the effects of ethanol.

I openly challenge who doubts this we can even bring this car back to India again if needed. We had to replace its fuel pump twice while it was here. After returning to the UK, the owner got the car inspected there as well, and yes, the diagnosis pointed to the effects of the ethanol-blended fuel used in India (Having all the proofs)

And this isn’t the only case. I have 10 more real examples that I can show!
