Strengthening civic engagement for more inclusive and participatory governance in Karnali Province 🇳🇵

@UNDP held a briefing with senior officials of Karnali Province on the Civic Engagement Project, supported by Switzerland, presenting its objectives, implementation approach, and modalities for collaboration.

The discussion reflected strong interest and commitment from provincial leadership to advance meaningful civic participation and strengthen citizen engagement in governance processes. The officials also shared their valuable and extended continued support toward effective implementation.

The project is working towards building more responsive, inclusive, and participatory governance systems in Karnali.

UNDP Nepal in collaboration with Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) successfully conducted the Provincial-level Inception Workshop of the Advancing Civic Engagement for Democratic Participation Project in Dhangadhi with active participation from youth groups, CSOs, and government stakeholders.

The workshop created a shared understanding of civic engagement, explored opportunities for partnerships and collaboration, and discussed pathways for strengthening democratic participation, youth engagement, policy advocacy, and community-led action.

Together, we move forward towards more inclusive, participatory, and accountable governance.

Initiatives like the 100-day campaign in high-burden districts, enhanced nutritional support through Nikshay Poshan Yojana, and faster, cost-effective diagnostic tools are accelerating the country’s efforts.
