Some market related stuff is windows only, so had to boot it today. And you can’t even install node easily. For some reason it just does not allow secure connection to NPM. No proxies, no anti viruses (I completely forgot they exist), nothing. So much pain!
@LinoLeighton Build hundreds, see what sticks.
Also in app stores some apps can grow without marketing. I had some from 10 years ago. Zero marketing. Somehow it gained users and grows by itself.
@kylegawley I never shut mine down. What's interesting is that if you released and made some SEO and stopped caring - after 1y you will start see people coming every other day. And then I come back to see what's happening, where/why people leave, what are the issues, and so on.
@robj3d3 "long" is probably the keyword. Constant improvement over years will polish the product well; competitors who can't do boring stuff will die out, and new competitors won't have same level of polish
@jhylee95@SupaDemo Very interesting, for many projects opposite way works better - hard paywall seems to convert best. Would be interesting to see if it depends on the field or something.
@forgebitz I think it was measured even. unique content is what will be indexed best by AI. E.g. something that product owners actually found, built, measured, whatever. AI wants to see "we learned that X", or "our calculations say that Y", etc.
@paulg True, it is painful to receive msgs saying your product is flawed, but it's the easiest way to see what's wrong with it from the user's perspective.
Also users who reported issues and you got fixed it for them are probably with you for a long time.
@KevinNaughtonJr Absolutely true. I was making apps for 10+ years; ended up making a template that covers most of the basic features (e.g. signups, payments, subs, profile edits, analytics, admins, etc).
Building and validating ideas is super fast now, and marketing is a bottleneck.
@Jeyffre Yes, you still need to know how to build, deploy, and maintain the source code. For a beginner it will be difficult to start doing.
But still, in exchange for time one can manage: ask AI how to do it, which options they are, how they differ, etc.
