On the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina (8/29), Iโm reminded of not only the destruction of my home and community, but also that the experience radicalized me. I was 17 at the time. These events below, personally and systemic, shook my worldview.
Black people in the US are expected to keep on keepin on no matter what. Keep on working. Keep on schooling. Keep entertaining. Keep laughing. Keep loving. Keep doing life. As if violent acts of domestic terrorism arenโt perpetual threats to our very existence here. Iโm SO tired.
