From Melbourne, Aus. Studying kidney organoids in the Little group within reNEW at UCPH. Stem cells, organoids, transcriptomics, bioinformatics and microscopy.
Proud to announce publication of DevKidCC in @GenomeMedicine! The lockdown side-project that grew. DevKidCC robustly & reproducibly classifies kidney organoid #kidorg cells in #SingleCell datasets using ref-trained ML classifiers. https://t.co/mo2uHHvmGU Highlights:
Starting to get very excited (and nervous!) for my talk at ISSCR in a few weeks! Presenting a short talk about our kidney assembloid protocol - check out our recent preprint for a sneak peek! https://t.co/BFuccMUMoN #ISSCR2025#kidneyorganoids
reNEW’s Annual Report 2024 is out.
A little more than three years since our research collaboration across three nodes – @UCPH, in Denmark, @LUMC_Leiden in the Netherlands and @MCRI_for_kids in Australia – began, our collaborative work is yielding tangible results. reNEW now runs 52 targeted #stemcell projects and is involved in four clinical trials.

Pleased to be sharing this chapter written with Nils @LindstromLab for Current Topics in Developmental Biology! Here we dive into how #nephrons establish proximal-distal patterning during #KidneyDevelopment & what this means for #StemCell-derived nephrons: https://t.co/sAXMLzl1Jh
We are hiring!
Postdoctoral position available in the Little Group, Copenhagen University.
We study kidney organoids using microscopy, transcriptomics, bioinformatics, bioengineering... all the fun stuff!!!

How to build a mucociliary epithelium (MCE)? Lesson from frogs!🐸
Extremely happy to share our collaborative work with @kedar_natarajan lab, where we profiled developing Xenopus laevis MCE from pluripotent to specialized cell types by scRNAseq. 🧵(1/8):

We have organoids!!! 🍒 on top of a great week. Superb effort from the team @inesmpsan & Jea to get #kidneyorganoid experiments going so rapidly! Excited for the next steps @reNEW_Global
It was amazing to be hosted by Cathelijne, @RabelinkT and the group 🤩. Thanks to everyone who came to the lecture & shared ideas/projects during my visit, felt very welcome!! #collaborativescience#kidneyorganoids
This week started with a beautiful example what reNEW has to offer for young researchers. Post-doc @sbwil91 started his career at MCRI, transferred to UCPH to start in a new group and was able to visit LUMC and learn from their experiences. Hopefully more examples will follow!
Great way to end the week, seeing our #stemcells start to differentiate towards #kidneyorganoids. With luck will have some nephron-filled blobs in a few weeks - and some pretty images! 🫰
See how @JMVanslambrouck and co (yes, I'm in there 😉) improved the PT in #stemcell derived #kidneyorganoids and used it to model covid infectivity. Beautiful science, congrats all!
Excited to share our new paper in @NatureComms: https://t.co/X7Dj4uYu85. We can make stem cell-derived kidneys (kidney organoids) with enhanced proximal tubules to benefit disease research and treatment in the future. @MCRI_for_kids@TheDohertyInst.
Thrilled to announce the publication of this research paper on NPHS2 variants and their impact on Podocin trafficking unraveling new insights on steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome pathophysiology using iPSC-derived kidney organoids. @MCRI_for_kids#kidney#organoid#stemcells
Thank you @HydraSchool for the most incredible week of intense #stemcell science delivered by world leading researchers. Not a bad choice of location either 😉!
