@reduzio@AndrewHarter_@bjornritzl Was reminded of this thread & wanted to necro, to say that the work I mentioned is now public: https://t.co/kFDjFzMA70
And we *did* put up the source: https://t.co/iYKbOP745V
I hope this can eliminate many false assertions about "immediate mode" that regularly make the rounds.
@Acrobat@AdobeDocCloud I’m going to take your advice and share this PDF with friends together with a link to SumatraPDF reader so they also can look at it without any adobe P.O.S. software! ❤️
@TheGingerBill @niklasfrykholm ☝️ This, I think Odin is the best designed ”Better C” alternative of the lot. https://t.co/ofGejFhPTN
But what it really comes down to is personal taste.
@timur_audio @Davidbrcz @Cor3ntin Good talk. You have convinced me to stop using c++. It is so obvious that its a ductaped house of cards. I just expect a low-level language to provide such elementary tools such as type punning without more stl garbage. Kk thx bb
layout std430 bited me in the ass so hard. I assumed vec3[] could be read as is. Turns out the reads are 16B aligned just as std140 for vec3. Spent 6 hours tracking that down... Never assume anything! 😢
from the manual regarding std430: ”... stride of arrays of scalars and vectors in rule 4 and of structures in rule 9 are not rounded up a multiple of the base alignment of a vec4.” I hate computers.
