How awesome is this. Sid’s out for a month. And here he is at the Penguins youth clinic. Volunteering his time. Taping a kid’s stick. What a class act. Best hockey ambassador there is.
The first residents have moved into the 60-unit modular shelter site in southeast London, a little more than four months after it was first announced. @JackAtLFPress spoke with city project manager Chris Green about the first few days of operation: https://t.co/6FS9SwKPzA #ldnont
Congrats to #MississippiMills Mayor Christa Lowry (and Chair of @ROMA_Ont ), as well as her community for being Rural Ontario’s (and Hallmark’s) Canadian Christmas capital!!
Everyone in Ontario deserves to feel safe where they gather to express their culture or practice their faith.
This is why our government is investing an additional $12.75 million in our Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant.

London has a proud history of hosting world-class sporting events, and we are thrilled to welcome the Grand Slam of Curling to our city for the first time.
This event will bring together the world’s best curlers and passionate fans, creating an unforgettable experience while showcasing London as a premier destination for sports and entertainment. We look forward to celebrating the skill, strategy, and excitement of curling right here in the Forest City.
Almost 18 months after London became the first city in Canada to receive $73-million in Housing Accelerator Funding money from the Federal Government, we're now the first city in Canada to receive a second round of funding -- an additional $7.3-million to build more housing of all types.
We're not at the front of the line by accident. This happens because an investment in London is an investment in results. Among other things, we've exceeded our first-year Housing Accelerator target by more than 150 units, demonstrating the City’s strong commitment to accelerating housing development.
Bold decisions and innovative policies have positioned our city as a leader in tackling the housing crisis—not just in Ontario, but across Canada.
Earlier this month, the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) Municipal Benchmarking Study for 2024 found that:
• London was the best performing Ontario municipality
• London had the fastest site plan and development permit approval timelines in Canada.
• London had the lowest low-rise and high-rise development fees in Ontario.
• City Council passed the most significant increase in as-of-right high-density zoning in 35 years.
Meanwhile, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, London’s total housing starts were up 101% year over year. That put us second in Ontario, and third across Canada. That 101% increase is even more impressive when you consider Toronto was down 20%, Kitchener-Waterloo was down 28%, and Hamilton was down 29%.
And where approvals are concerned, last year, City Council approved 22,890 new units of housing – an all-time record for London. That’s four times more than we did the previous year, and five times more than the year before that.
We are committed to working with our federal and provincial government partners, builders, developers, tradespeople, and not-for-profits to create more housing of all types as quickly as possible for Londoners.
Happy New Year, London! 🎉 Reflecting on 2024, we're proud of the milestones, partnerships, and impact we've achieved. Looking ahead to 2025, we remain committed to enhancing quality of life and strengthening our community. Explore more at: https://t.co/m6Zxa8LwRA
