Very excited to announce that, effective July 5th, I will be joining @AIRinforms as a Senior Researcher. I'll be working with their Justice Systems team and within the National Reentry Resource Center. Sad to leave my tenured position at UNC Charlotte, but excited for the future.

New NLSY study finds high rates of entrepreneurship among formerly incarcerated people, who often have fewer labor market options. Entrepreneurship is also associated w/ income gains & reduced recidivism.

In 2020, there was the largest one-year increase in homicide since 1960. This year, the US is experiencing the largest decrease. What's driving the spike and the decline? Gun crime. Here's a graphic of non-gun homicide to make that point.

So excited to see this out @journalrcd! We looked at young adult arrest trajectories from 1960-2018 & found big changes over time - 👀 the figures esp. last decade. Adult role attainment was assoc w/ quicker declines but not level of arrests. Takeaway: historical context matters.
