Independently of Marathon's future, I’ll always appreciate Bungie for putting out a game with such a unique art style and gameplay.
It’s a shame that the price they have to pay for releasing one of the most unique FPS out there is a successful hate campaign.
@DanGamerAL@HytaleAlerts Absolutely, I can understand being against AI and not liking anything made with it but all this trying to police other people is getting ridiculous.
Marathon is the only extraction shooter without a “safe” pocket.
Even Tarkov, known as the most brutal of extraction shooters, has one.
It felt like Marathon’s goal was to raise the stakes/intensity of each run with this design.
But the more I think about its overall impact, and the casual player base (the group Bungie really needs to attract) the more I realize this is needed in Marathon too.
The opportunity cost of that intensity isn’t more than what Marathon loses with the players that lean casual.
My solution wouldn’t be to add a safe pocket at all actually.
Rather, it would be to utilize the DCON. Something that’s already in the game.
A mostly meaningless POI on the map relative to what matters to other players (outside of their own quests which have no bearing on you) now becomes another high stakes environment.
Place your desired loot in the DCON, survive 60 seconds, and your loot returns to the vault. Then continue on your run, incentivizing players to spend more time in game, allowing them to earn valuable loot/salvage, even if they were to fail at exfilling.
What do you think. Should Marathon introduce their version of a safe pocket?
I encouraged a lifelong friend to try Marathon out.
They didn’t want to buy it because of all the negative online sentiments + never playing an extraction shooter. They feared the learning curve the most.
We played for hours tonight. They loved it.
Marathon is goated fr‼️‼️
"This franchise has helped me make friends that I never would have met, and got me through really tough times in my life," one petition signer says.
More than 400,000 people have signed a petition urging Sony and Bungie to develop Destiny 3 after Bungie ended active development of Destiny 2 with its final major update in June and shifted its focus to Marathon.
The petition, launched by @LUCKYY10P, argues that after more than a decade of the Destiny franchise, players deserve a true sequel that will "keep the fire of the Guardian spirit alive."
Should Bungie develop Destiny 3? Let us know in the comments ⬇️

Six months ago, Jeb from Mojang tried Hytale and said "I'd like it to be more different to Minecraft." He was right, and I said it then too. The features that make us unique weren't in the game yet.
Hytale and Minecraft will always be compared, but we're not trying to make the same kind of game. Yesterday's blog shows what that means for the future. Handcrafted dungeons with multi-phase boss fights, combat abilities, runeforging, world events, companions involved in the crafting loop, and much more.
We want to be a deeper RPG, a stronger adventure identity, and a game that will evolve massively over the next few years. We just happen to be a block game, and we are just getting started.
TIL that Palworld & dedicated servers do not support IPv6.
in a world where IPv4 has been exhausted for over a decade (15 years) and IPv6 has been available for almost as long - we have games that STILL do not support full IPv6 connectivity.
🥲
Last year, Microsoft made $101 billion in profits, got a $12.5 billion tax break from Trump & paid its CEO $96 million.
This year, it’s raising the price of an Xbox by $150 & eliminating 3,200 jobs.
Please don’t tell me corporate tax breaks create jobs. It never trickles down.
Yo @Destiny2Team@A_dmg04 since a final patch is releasing soon, if it's not too much work could we have rally Banners cost reduced to 1 Glimmer as a final gift to the Raiding community?
The last week has been difficult. Please continue to focus on those impacted by the reduction in force.
The industry is in a scary place right now employment wise. Wishing the best to all who need it, and hope to help where possible.
if any Bungie friends know of any Network Engineers caught up in last weeks layoffs - my day job isn't in the gaming space but skills translate and I have one position open at my day job - DM's open ♥️
If I was a Rival Company to SONY, I'd make a New Studio and hire everyone laid off at Bungie.
You'd have teams from Raid and Dungeon, Cinematics, Sandbox, etc. Who made some of the best gaming content ever.
Just make sure Leadership isn't fucking idiots and sky's the limit lol
Truthfully, as much as I love Destiny, Marathon genuinely plays like a modern game. Not one made in 2017.
I sincerely think Destiny enjoyers would like modes like this. It’s truly Bungie expertise on full display, pure PvE, deep lore, and developed as a passion project and not a cash cow.
Steam charts are the worst thing to happen to gaming, EVER. It has fried the brains of so many people that could enjoy a gane but "OH iT oNLy hAs 15k PlaYErs"
Video games would've died so fast in the early 2000s if we had people like this shouting their dogwater takes
I'll be playing Destiny 2 today, but... I wanted to share why. The unfortunate truth is... one terrible day hopefully deep into the future, Warframe will inevitably be in a similar position, and... I know that... if we too sound the alarm, that we too need to slam servers... Destiny players will come to our aid in the exact same way. I want to show corporate types today the kind of power gamers truly have. That we can band together and fly in the face of profit only decisions and corporate greed. That those types of people, in fact DO NOT represent us and further DO NOT have a clue how this industry actually works. To me... making corporations rethink these narrow sighted decisions to pump quarterly numbers in order to allow the art and the communities of these wonderful franchises to thrive, Maybe you disagree and... that's your choice but, well I can't think of a more deserving use of my time today.
