The Trump Administration wants to open California and Florida’s coastlines to offshore drilling for the first time in over 50 years. I offered an amendment to stop it.

This is a direct threat to our national security.

Every single U.S. Military Branch uses those waters, including off Camp Pendleton, for training and testing that is required before our troops can deploy. You cannot move an oil platform out of the way for a military exercise.

The Trump Administration says this will lower gas prices, but it won’t. What it will do is jeopardize our national security, our waters, and our economies. This was never about lowering gas prices. It’s about selling our coastline to Big Oil.

These scientists marched 12-days, 250-miles to highlight how funding cuts, disinformation, mass firings, & grant terminations have impacted the health and well-being of our families and U.S. scientific leadership on the international stage.

Returned to Paʻakea Road with Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation and the Navy to follow up on flooding near the dip in the road and continue working toward solutions for the community.
