I love dictation. I hate subscriptions. I have tried several different providers and ultimately, I hated them.
Apple dictation isn’t that good.
I’d love to Superwhisper at first, but during their updates, the interface changed my settings got reset and I was pissed. I was paying a subscription for something and I wanted stability and I got instability.
I got really annoyed that these apps are all using the hardware that I purchased and then they’re charging me to use the thing I already own.
So I made my own app instead and I’m sharing it.
1. This is free. No sign up, no account creation, no subscription.
2. It’s a macOS-only app. It’s very specifically optimized for the M-series chips (all of them, I use a 32gb M1 Max as my daily driver).
3. It saves every recording and transcription to any folder you want. Aim it at a folder in your iCloud and it’ll sync to everyone of your devices.
It supports 25 languages currently but English is still the best. It uses parakeet V3 so if you’re curious, if it uses the language you need, you can look it up.
Happy chatting 😎

You significantly misunderstood my explanation. I was explaining various scenarios where passkeys can be used conveniently. You’re right I don’t always have my smart watch on, but it’s a rare day I don’t have my phone available and that’s true for most people at most times if not all the time. A single passkey in the Apple keychain means I can use any combination of watch, fingerprint or phone to access an account with the same passkey that’s setup once. A single setup that’s protected by biometrics.
But you only need 1 device for passkeys to work.
@chrysusdotdev@Austen I don’t think it’s a UX problem, I think it’s a user understanding problem. The UX is actually slick even if you mix Apple & Android if you use a good password manager. The previous point was exactly that the UX is super smooth when using the right combo of options.
Passkeys have been the easiest experience. On my mac mini it uses my watch for the biometric verification without literally no effort on my part, and when I have to use my phone it’s using the passkey stored in my keychain and instantly unlocks whatever site. How is this hard for you?
Yes, and that’s what you do when you want one to start talking to the other, but cross process communication if they’re running separately from one another requires an intermediary location to exchange messages.
So if you’re running a separate Claude code agent, and you need it to collaborate with your Codex agent, then you need to use something like the file system for them to leave messages for one another. It’s not that complicated. It’s literally what they do every time they write files you’re just now telling them that a specific directory is how they can talk back-and-forth with one another and it’s asynchronous.
@SKatalystAI You gotta take bigger swings. Codex is currently on it’s 4th day of this goal and I can usually get claude code to run for a few days at a time on hard but well defined problems (and yes use all my weekly usage)
@joshmillgate I made one for Mac only (leverages their chips for the AI) it’s free

First version works but’s design is a bit rough. Next version is underway (still free)
With everything that’s currently happening in software, my hope is that this provides a lesson to everyone and we finally see the need to create a standard process for key rotation and we make it an expected default practice. It would be even better if we could design/develop patterns for keys so that any vendor key leak could be more easily detected.
I am constantly telling my peers to take bigger swings with AI. It’s a tool that doesn’t get tired. It can iterate on a problem as long as it needs.
Well at version 112 my agent is still trying to find a way to minimize the compile time memory to be under 2GB of RAM when compiling a project with 300-500 data models in it. It might not be possible, but between Chat and Claude working together, I think we’ll find out whether or not this is possible or not!
Now let’s hope OAI keeps the usage resets coming because this has been running for an intense period of time with no end in sight 😅
