The struggle for democratic transformation requires both clarity and global solidarity.
The Daerona Community is proud to host a critical dialogue on one of the most pressing challenges facing our community today: Transnational Repression & Diaspora Engagement.
For too long, the long arm of authoritarianism has reached across borders to silence voices and stifle progress. To chart a path toward a better future, we must understand these mechanisms and strengthen our collective diaspora engagement.
We are honored to be joined by Prof. Kjetil Tronvoll, a leading expert on the Horn of Africa, to dissect these issues and discuss the roadmap for Eritrea’s future transformation.
💙 Understanding how repression operates globally to protect activists and families.
💙 Turning diaspora energy into a structured force for change.
💙 Moving beyond the current status quo toward a "Blue Revolution" of peace and justice.

Sounds like the Charge De Affair of PFDJ knows the details of the case before it happened. Did he just make false claims and assumptions?
Was he in the Festival from August 1st through 5th 2023?
Why is the festival political, giving the fact that many people had on YPFDJ shirts?
Is Berhane a decision maker regarding the festival as well?
Will he and Wedi Sura be witness in the case together ?
Has he threatened any Eritreans in USA or defamed them in anyway?
Let’s clear it up. So far every accusations claim, that has been made on an advocate have that I have seen as been dismissed. It is a fact PFDJ is a sanctioned Government and has Influence on organizations in USA.
A country's real strength is in how it treats its young people, not how it breaks them. Forcing kids into years of military service without even giving them basic things isn't serving the country, it’s stealing their lives. Any government that stays in power by turning its own country into a prison and its children into forced labor has completely failed. Power should belong to the people, not a dictator who rules through fear. #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #RegimeChangeInEritrea @Eritrea_UN@UNHumanRights@UN_Women@UN_HRC@UN@hrw@amnesty@EU_Commission@realDonaldTrump@martinplaut@UNGeneva@_AfricanUnion@EritreanPress@shabait
Freedom on Trial: Eritrean activists are facing legal battles in #America — a troubling reflection of how repression does not stop at national borders.
The totalitarian regime in #Eritrea (#PFDJ) continues to draw widespread criticism for its systematic violations of human rights, including indefinite national service, arbitrary detention, and the complete absence of political freedom. Today, these patterns of control are extending beyond Eritrea’s borders.
Through networks, affiliated organizations, and influence within diaspora spaces, the regime employs #TransnationalRepression — targeting Eritreans abroad with intimidation, coercion, surveillance, and social pressure. Activists, journalists, and community leaders who speak out often face threats, harassment, and coordinated efforts to silence dissent, even in democratic countries.
The legal challenges now facing Eritrean activists in the United States highlight a deeper and more urgent issue: the shrinking space for free expression and political engagement within diaspora communities.
But we refuse to be intimidated.
We remain committed to defending our rights, protecting our communities, and standing in solidarity with those whose voices are suppressed. The struggle for justice, accountability, and dignity for the Eritrean people continues — both at home and across the diaspora.

The Singapore That Never Was: While Singapore turned discipline into dynamism and scarcity into global competitiveness, Eritrea under Isaias Afwerki hardened into isolation, repression, and regional destabilization—casting a long shadow over Ethiopia. Yet even amid divergence, the possibility remains to bridge the fracture and reclaim a path toward shared stability in the Horn.

Agents and NGO entities associated with #PFDJ, are employing tactics of #TransnationalRepression against #Eritrea|n activists residing within the United States. These actions are reportedly being taken against individuals who are merely exercising their fundamental democratic rights, such as freedom of speech and assembly. The initiation of charges at the federal level against these peaceful advocates constitutes a grave infringement upon the principles of free expression, a cornerstone of democratic societies. Such maneuvers are not only designed to silence dissent but also to intimidate and deter any form of opposition, thereby undermining the very freedoms that these activists are seeking to uphold and advocate for. #BlueRevolution #America #FreedomOnTrial #Seattle13Defense #JusticeSeekers

Let that sink in…Justice on trial in #America because #Eritrean brutal regime fears the truth. #PFDJ using lawsuits as weapons of #TransnationalRepression this’s is how dictators operate in a free world! #EndRepression #BlueRevolution #FreedomOnTrial #Seattle13Defense #JusticeSeekers #NoMorePFDJTerror #NoMorePFDJPropaganda
The numerous lawsuits initiated against individuals seeking justice in #Eritrea serve as a compelling testament to the Eritrean regime's profound apprehension regarding transparency and accountability in governance. This fear is further evidenced by the systematic strategies employed by the regime, including the use of threats, harassment, and intimidation, all of which are manifestations of what can be described as #TransnationalRepression. Such tactics are indicative of an authoritarian governmental structure that seeks to suppress dissent and stifle efforts aimed at advocating for the fundamental rights of its citizens. #Seattle13 #BlueRevolution

Let’s be absolutely clear: Eritrean justice seekers in the United States many of them victims of repression are being spoken about as targets. A speech that openly discusses identifying critics, damaging livelihoods, and pursuing legal pressure does not promote peace; it threatens it.
This is #TransnationalRepression in plain sight fear extended beyond borders. People who fled imprisonment, indefinite conscription, and silencing should not face intimidation again in a democracy. They came for safety, for dignity, for the right to speak.
Targeting them for exercising those rights is not advocacy it is coercion. No one should be made to feel unsafe for speaking about justice. Not here. Not anywhere. #BlueRevolution #NoMorePFDJTerror
