In January 1995 I was told I had three years to live. I never found a marrow donor. In August 1998 I entered a Phase 1 clinical trial at MD Anderson for what became Gleevec. Thirty-one years later I’m still here. Clinical trials don’t just advance science — they give patients a second chance at life.

Grateful to my mentors and collaborators from UConn, Yale, and Saint Francis for their guidance throughout this multi-institutional effort. Our abstract highlights real-world challenges in timely bone-modifying agent use and opportunities to improve adherence to IMWG guidelines for patients with myeloma.

My dad was a physician in Iran. After we fled he never got his license & sold used cars. Yesterday I met a physician from South Sudan. We talked about ways to stay engaged without a US medical license. Wish someone had done the same for my dad.
Please mentor #IMGs.

Today I met this lovely man who happened to be watching Pathoma videos a few seats away from me. He saw that I was studying as well and asked where I was on my medical journey. This led to a conversation about his journey.

Just got my green card and used Global Entry for the first time. 2 sec interaction after the kiosk: “Mr. Hsu, anything to declare? No? Welcome home!”
I didn’t realize how much this could mean to me. And what it still feels like to be an immigrant even after so many years here
