@CQuintanaDC Would love to see information on Joint Spousal Consolidation Loan Act (S1098). Signed law 6 wks ago & borrowers continue to make pymnts for both parties, no communication from DoE except reconciliation form for those PSLF, misinformation from lenders. @SC_DoUsPart@usedgov
@usedgov Separate Joint Spousal Consolidated Loans now! Congress passed s1098 which requires you to do this. Please do what you're required by law to do. Help us!
@SecCardona@usedgov That's great news. Now release a plan for separating and discharging predatory FFELP joint spousal consolidation loans. A number of us have dedicated our lives to public service, made our payments, and didn't get a pause during COVID. @SC_DoUsPart
@BlahzeeOh2@SC_DoUsPart @DonateGiveHelp @CTyank860z@whereismytrx@SecCardona@usedgov Thank you. That distinction is easy to miss in the current noise about loan forgiveness, so I’ll repeat it: we are asking the government to enact law 117-200, to separate our loan, not pay it. SEPARATE it. So we are no longer paying our Ex spouse’s bill.
@SecCardona Those with Joint Spousal Consolidated loans have been under tremendous fianancial insecurity 4 Decades & it’s continuing w/o any action on your part to separate them as law demands. THAT is CALLOUS. Finding $ for serious health, w/no payment pause, is agonizing! @SC_DoUsPart
@ephoist@SecCardona@SC_DoUsPart Amen. Giving this pause while ignoring older JCL /FFEL borrowers - many like me in a "single-income but paying double" household - unconscionable. You couldn't implement a pause for an issue that is NOT up for debate!?
LAW 117-200.
I'm shattered. @MarkWarner@mkant
@FSACOO@usedgov What about those of us stuck in spousal consolidation loans? We’ve had no pause at all even though we now have a law directing the DOE to separate into direct loans! This is purely discrimination at this point! @SC_DoUsPart
