In EP321, we trace $NAT back to the start: Bitmap, Ordinals, and the thermodynamics behind Digital Matter Theory.
Plus, the $10K Vibeathon is live, and we go through some submissions and discuss the importance of the DMT token within the context of this continual storyline👇
From Raw Block Data to a $50M Token: How NAT Was Born | TBR#321
We start knee-deep in World Cup chaos. The USA and Mexico both made it into the top sixteen, a red card that quietly gutted the American offense, and the absurd economics underneath it all, where FIFA pays out seven hundred million and pulls in close to nine billion. It is a detour, but it frames the real question we spend the rest of the episode on. What happens when value attaches to something people wrote off as noise.
That question runs straight into the Vibeathon on @natdotfun. There is a ten-thousand-dollar prize for the community to build a DMT collection, and to understand why anyone would chase it, you have to understand where all of this came from. So we go back to 2023, when Bitoshi messaged us about Bitmap and Ordinals were turning Bitcoin into a place you could inscribe anything. Bitmap reframed every block as digital land and every transaction as a parcel. It looked like Crypto Voxels at first, but Crypto Voxels was a person drawing squares. Bitmap was not. Nobody decides the shape of a block. Bitcoin does, every ten minutes, and you cannot fake it.
That non-arbitrariness became Digital Matter Theory, a language for reading patterns straight out of Bitcoin's data. NAT was the first thing we pulled out of it. We chose the bits field almost on instinct, because it diminishes as hash power grows, giving the token a non-arbitrary, decaying inflation rooted in Bitcoin's own energy. We launched it into brutally high fees, it blocked out in seven days, and every satoshi of those fees went straight to the miners. No VC, no team, no allocation to anyone. Then @dmtnatcats arrived, art rendered not by an artist but by the blocks themselves, and the whole idea caught fire.
The turn comes when @rarity_garden and Rome ask a simple question. What if the new $NAT went to the miners? Chase that thread, and you run into a problem most of Bitcoin would rather not name. The block subsidy decays toward zero, and Bitcoin's price cannot rise fast enough forever to cover it. Making Bitcoin infinite breaks it. Proof of stake breaks it. Taxing holders breaks it. A second subsidy does not.
That is the quiet argument the whole episode builds toward. @natgmi produces a new commodity every block, facilitated entirely by Bitcoin, without the decay Bitcoin's own reward carries, and it was distributed as freely and fairly as anything in crypto has ever been. No team bag, no insiders, the largest holder sitting on one percent. The most durable things here do not get designed to pump. They fall out of a system nobody can tamper with, and they wait. The pattern was always in the data. We just finally learned how to read it.
If Bitcoin underperforms again while miners head toward another halving, $DMT-NAT stops looking optional and starts looking like part of the survival plan.
$NAT is a Bitcoin mining companion coin:
$NAT benefits miners, mining pools, and mining rigs.
Other coins only benefit project teams.
The focus of $NAT will last throughout Bitcoin's entire lifecycle.

We all did it! We’re here now!!! What’s next? Firstly, thank you! Infinite thanks! Next, I think it’s natural to expect some major ups & downs. The market’s terrible, some folks will dump. Not bc they want to, but maybe to survive... Do what you must brothers & sisters. Everyone else, those who are able to hold... Equilibrium will be attained. A moment of quiet... Then?
MASSIVE LAUNCHES! Each one capable of driving green candles! Roadmap incoming.
Stick with us for rewards across $NAT, $TAP, & of course, $BIGNOODLE. All boats rise!
