UAE BEGS US FOR FINANCIAL LIFELINE

The image of the UAE as an untouchable global "safe-haven" is collapsing in real-time. As the US-Isr*eli war on Iran inflicts nearly $60 billion in energy infrastructure damage across the region, the Emirates faces an existential crisis.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the UAE is now begging the US for a financial lifeline: a currency-swap line to save the Dirham from collapse. Desperate Emirati officials are implicitly threatening to ditch the US dollar for the Chinese yuan if the Treasury does not step in.

The statistics are staggering for a state built on tourism, with the sector contributing to 13% of Dubai's GDP.

Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest hub, shut down for weeks, contributing to 30,000+ regional flight cancellations. Hotel occupancy has plummeted by 80%, with over 250,000 short-term rental bookings wiped out in March alone.

But while the UAE pleads for Western mercy to save its economy, its role as a regional predator has not slowed down. The UAE continues to funnel arms to the g*nocidal Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Sudan and has recently moved to fund militias to "guard" mines in the DR Congo.

The UAE wants the world to see it as a victim of regional instability, yet it remains the primary architect of instability across Africa.

They are asking for a "lifeline" from the West while tightening the noose around the necks of the Sudanese and Congolese people.

The skyscrapers in Dubai may be empty, but as long as African gold and minerals can be looted, the UAE’s sub-imperial machinery will keep grinding.

When I finished my surgical training in the NHS (about 15 years ago), I went to the US for a fellowship.

The programme director liked my skills and offered a fast track to move to the US full time.

I was extremely torn, as with the private health insurance system I would make more than three times what I would in the UK.

I however found the way poor people were treated in the US and how they died from lack of basic medical care reprehensible and moved back to the UK.

With my experience now I will earn more than four or five times what I currently do in the NHS.

I however sleep easy every night knowing that all decisions I made during the day were based on what was best for the patient and not how rich the patient is.

The NHS has problems but it is a beautiful system where a homeless person is treated exactly the same as the prime minister.

Farage gets a lot of money from private companies in the US who have been eyeing the billions they can make in the UK for years. I will benefit from it money-wise but I still oppose it as I am not a monster like Farage.
