@lauriewired Great video. One thing that is not clear, how do you decide which thread wins when doing some work in the normal case (forget about fpga code). Do you do a cas when the thread finishes or something else ?

@lemire The problem is that on average the performance increases by 8% on a cherry picked set. What about the probability of running into a bug in this new layer ? Probably much much more than +8%. The increase must be much more to tolerate decrease in reliability

@pavandavuluri @davidfowl Pavan, I request you to use macOS or Fedora Linux as your daily driver for a few weeks. On similar hardware windows 11 is absolutely sluggish. You guys used to make great software… I don’t know how you have messed up so much

@ShriramKMurthi Heating Power = V x I . At 110 V if you supply higher amperage you get the water boiling just as fast as 220 V. Maybe this kettle is meant to be plugged in the low amperage socket.

@stylewarning @jamesladd How can it compress so good ? Pi does not really have any predictability or patterns that might help in compression? Maybe just ascii is just wasteful ? Why use 1 byte per digit when you have 10 possibilities for each digit ?

Went to the ASI museum in Ropar and they won’t allow entry until you enter ID in a website. No cash. What is this data hunger? Aren’t museums supposed to be accessible spaces where people can just walk in and learn. We are killing tourism with such policies @ASIGoI @tourismgoi

The negative population growth of China will drive innovation in China in robotics, driverless cars, AI and other labour intensive industries. In general more population is good but innovation lags when you can just use more people. India’s large population may not be such a huge advantage in the future we think it is. Superpower US just has 350 M people!

@domenkozar To be fair the going from C to Rust in the kernel is technically not a big deal because Rust is a bit more high level. Making sure C++ patterns and code in browsers interoperate well with Rust is much tougher.
