@bryan_johnson Love your work Bryan and follow your advice, prioritizing sleep has already convinced me how critical this is.
At the same time, respectfully, you did not build your 800 million dollar business which enabled to do your current work while prioritizing your health.
@IGN I wholeheartedly agree with the blurb. There were nonstop cool fights, but my pervasive feeling was “I don’t care about these characters”. I enjoyed season one way more, will die on this hill
@reach_vb Def agree that you need the momentum and to keep building. The key is how to build sustainable code while being fast. In my exp this is learned via experience and being curious. Maybe OOP can be good sometimes.
Basically: build maintainable code or ship fast? Why not both?
@nikitabier I think you’re basically right, but also I’m the person who would be an addict otherwise so for me there’s a lot of alpha in what James Clear writes about. Just sayin
@leecronin I see two grievous fallacies here:
1. compute is not enough, see Google failing to release a product which matches GPT-4 to this day.
2. What LLMs do is vastly more powerful than “compress”. They contextualize the information within ~all human knowledge.
@mitsuhiko Seriously? I love typing! I can avoid reading an entire nested function just to figure out what exactly it expects. Docstrings tend to be notoriously bad at explaining if a parameter is a list, dict, or something more complicated.
@GergelyOrosz Interesting insight! I’m now starting out in ML engineering and getting a similar feeling that my tried and true unit testing approach is not bringing the same value as it does in traditional software. It’s much more about verifying invariants in the entire pipeline.
@BasedFrontal I think it’s OK to be really good at a videogame and show it off.
I would approach this from a perspective of what the devs can do to support everyone - probably same matching algorithm based on skill level.
@MightyKeef I’ve played all DLC except for Episode Ardyn, and my impression was that the DLCs themselves had the same clunky combat and awkward pacing as the base game. I still kind of liked the whole package anyway, however I don’t think the DLCs managed to “fix” it.
