Tinubu’s APC knows election season is approaching, so they are speaking softly now. They do not want Nigerians to focus too much on the next layer of economic pressure waiting after the election. They know the people are already tired from fuel subsidy removal, rising cost of living, unemployment, weak purchasing power and endless hardship. So the strategy is simple: keep quiet for now, win first, then return fully with the same policies that will squeeze ordinary Nigerians even more.

That is why Nigerians must not be deceived.

A government that removed subsidy without protecting the poor can also implement tax policies without caring how the poor will survive. A government that told Nigerians to sacrifice while the political class continued to enjoy comfort cannot suddenly be trusted to protect the same citizens after election.

This is not about rejecting taxation completely. Every serious country needs taxes. But taxation must be fair, humane and responsible. You cannot tax people into deeper poverty and call it reform. You cannot increase the burden on citizens whose businesses are struggling, whose salaries have lost value, whose food cost has doubled, and whose children are already living under economic pressure.

APC wants Nigerians to forget until it is too late.

But the people must remember.

Remember the promises.
Remember the subsidy pain.
Remember the excuses.
Remember the suffering.
Remember that every policy eventually enters the pocket of the poor.

This is exactly why 2027 must be treated as a rescue mission. Nigerians must not hand another four years to a government that has already shown it can impose pain first and explain later.

If they are quiet now, it is not because the danger is gone.

It is because they need your vote first.
